Last night i foolishly spilt pot noodle on my speakers volume control, and now they won't go above like 65% volume. So I was wondering what the best 2.1 speakers would be for about £40? I currently have some of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-LS21-Stereo-Speaker-System/dp/B0017915WA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1334411302&sr=8-2 and they do the job pretty well for how much they are. Mainly looking for something to play music on. I can go a bit over budget if it's really worth it, but i'd prefer not to.
Was there anything wrong with the ones you already had? If you think they're fine just get a replacement set, you can't really go wrong for £20. Otherwise consider the logitech Z4s, I got a pair for £40 and they're good. You're not going to get anything stunning in this price range but logitech speakers are pretty good.

These speakers were fine, great in fact for the price range, i just don't really know where the market is at the minute and i thought if i'm buying some i might as well see if there are any much better speakers for just a bit more.
The lower end logitech sets are not that bad. I just ordered a z623 with a 50% off coupon I got, but I originally was planning on getting a refurbished z523 on Meritline for ~47$

I just noticed UK and Meritiline ships out of the US.
Still you might be able to get a refurbished z523 system for around your price somewhere.
From personal experience, Eltax and sometimes Jamo plays better in the £40 range than Logitech.
Otherwise check the second-hand market, a friend of mine got a pretty good amplifier for £20 incl. some small but decent philips speakers that we later replaced with something more juicy.
