• Some covers of popular Hans Zimmer themes (batman/Angels&Demons/DvC/Pirates)

I decided to get into music production a month or more ago, and I decided to learn the ropes slowly by reproducing music I can refer back to and find mistakes in. Forgive me if you blindly dislike Hans Zimmer, but he inspired me to pick up a sequencer and write. I've been told that sometimes people don't mind listening to things they've heard before if it's done a little differently. Yes, I'm looking to sound close to the original so it makes sense, but not completely. Just wanted to get these out before I started writing my own shit again. Feel free to drop your suggestions by, especially if you find blatant mistakes. (transcribed by ear) These are not generic stupid techno remixes, the sound libraries cost around $9,000 The Dark Knight - Like a Dog Chasing Cars (w/ Aggressive Expansion outro) From Angels and Demons: 160 bpm for fans: 160 bpm Percussion stems (no strings, brass, bass, organ, or choir) 503 (epic main theme) 503 (re-arranged with ethnic instruments and inception-style guitar parts) The Da Vinci Code - Chevaliers de Sangreal (or otherwise known as, suite/full version of 503) Pirates of the Caribbean: Davy Jones Plays His Organ (in the key it appeared in the movie) Davy Jones Plays His Organ (commercial version) Due to the crappy mix Soundcloud gives the recordings I might just move them to youtube or something
Nice bro but you have some bad volume problems. What sound libraries did you use for this? Usually if you are using advanced kits, i'm naturally going to have high expectations.
Nice bro but you have some bad volume problems. What sound libraries did you use for this? Usually if you are using advanced kits, i'm naturally going to have to high standards.
The problem with volume is because of soundcloud, if you don't have a pro-account it sends everything down to a certain volume limit, unlike YouTube it reduces bass in the sound mix as well. Even before posting I noticed that 160 bpm is most affected by this problem and I was seriously considering uploading it elsewhere, but it's not that bad. So if you're interested I can post download links to the mp3/wav files Edit: Problem confirmed for three songs, they're fucked up on soundcloud, give them a listen from their original volume 160 Bpm http://www.mediafire.com/?5ly74j4x9vaz845 160 Bpm percussion Stems (sounds pretty cool) http://www.mediafire.com/?459h54bq7t8ewye Like a Dog Chasing Cars http://www.mediafire.com/?53us8yt4sb60pt3
Oh right. Don't have a soundcloud. Could do if you like.
(added it to the post above)
my mixes would be perfect, but soundcloud makes them sound bad it's soundcloud's fault guys
by the sound of the abhorrent shit posted on your account, I would say your comment has some merit I think I almost had an out-of-body experience within the first 10 seconds of your "hippy dj cheX out da spidaman re-miX" soundcloud page, good luck with that. Seriously.
right in the kisser :v:

I think my next project will be to transcribe the prologue music of TDKR and see how far I get (oh shit so much for automerge)
Have you done any original work?
Have you done any original work?
Nothing too serious that I'm willing to put out there yet, I had one piece up but I was largely dissatisfied with it
You should put up some originals man.
These are not generic stupid techno remixes, the sound libraries cost around $9,000
That's interesting because Brahms didn't have them and he didn't create "generic stupid techno remixes" either.
no i'm pretty sure brahms had some great sound libraries and debussy had one of those Virus TI's!
no i'm pretty sure brahms had some great sound libraries and debussy had one of those Virus TI's!
My life has been undone by this new information. Next you'll be telling me that Bach was just a machine.
That's interesting because Brahms didn't have them and he didn't create "generic stupid techno remixes" either.
like many 18th-19th century composers I don't think he had frequent access to a computer, lol I'm just trying to get people to keep reading the thread (if they get the wrong impression of the word "cover" they get discouraged and leave) But yeah I'll definitely work on some original stuff after I try the Bane thing. (I have some unfinished material to revise) Covers are honestly getting boring to make unless you absolutely-positively like the song you are working on, which in this case I do.
Damn that's one nice writing utensil.
The more expensive pen, the better music you'll write obviously.
