Hello Resident Evil fans!
This is Capcom R&D Division 1!
First off, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to all Resident Evil fans, for your passion, enthusiasm and continued support for the Resident Evil brand.
Enthusiasm for a Resident Evil 2 Remake is something we've been hearing from you over the years, and has drawn some recent attention in the media.
However, as the team owns the RE brand, we're not certain how we feel about this approach, and would like to ask your honest and frank opinion about the “Resident Evil 2 Remake” and what the brand identity is supposed to be about?
Give it the same treatment as the RE1 remake, and we're golden!
I'd settle for the original games being re-released on PC.
they will fuck it up, they can't even properly remake an older remake. The old Zero and RE1 teams are not around and are the new team will not put in the time and effort to properly do this
I'd rather want a Resident Evil 4 remake, honestly. Or a new 3D RE game that's more like 4 and not 5/6.
Dragons Dogma

There is a RE4 HD version on steam but they didn't even bother to touch a lot of stuff.
Why not just make a new horror franchise inspired by the classic resident evils?
Oh wait...Capcom lost all of it's talent and sense years ago.

Oh, I know. It just felt and looked rather half-asses, and even introduced new bugs and issues.
If it was a proper HD remake that was faithful to the original, with the kind of graphics you'd expect in 2015 then by all means I think it would be great, but Capcom is the kind of company that just won't put the effort into anything, their definition of a HD remake would be support for modern computers and 1080p and maybe x360 controller support, but no real graphics changes, which is just plain lazy.

I've not encountered any issues yet.
Also for people that had to endure the original PC version, it's a godsend.
A reimagining ala REmake would be fantastic. More traveling in the city before you reach RPD, revamped puzzles, etc. But that team left long ago, so right now Capcom just give me Dragon's Dogma on the PC and we'll call it even for destroying Resident Evil.
PLEASE.
Just bloody remake RE2 in the REmake engine.

There's Dragon's Dogma Online, but I guess Capcom already realized that the game they somehow made to appeal to a western audience and was successful enough to get an expanded rerelease doesn't need to come to the west.
Make an actual new game instead of re-releasing shit please.
They should remake it ad give it two control schemes:
Classic tank controls and third person controls like RE4
Why would anyone want a RE4 remake...? That game stands up incredibly well for its age; it's a completely unnecessary game to remake from every perspective. Also the recent PC port was great and the best experience playing RE4 on any platform.

RE4 doesn't really need a remake though, it still holds up perfectly well. It still plays really well and still looks kinda nice.
the idea of a game in 2015 using fixed camera angles and tank controls makes me moist
Wait wait wait a minute isn't this all about the UE4 RE2 remake? Ohhh Capcom is asking the fans we feel about it before they fucking C&D the shit out of them.

That thing looks like garbage though. It's impressive for a small group of people I guess, but it is far too dark, doesn't look like it plays well at all and the sounds are incredibly out of place. That is not the remake that RE2 should have.
^I agree but that's what they're asking about.
"However, as the team owns the RE brand, we're not certain how we feel about this approach, and would like to ask your honest and frank opinion about the “Resident Evil 2 Remake” and what the brand identity is supposed to be about?"
The way they worded it reads awkwardly to me, it almost feels like they're not actually asking what it should be.
Either way, I'd love for a Resident Evil 2 remake to be made in the same style as 0 and Resident Evil's Gamecube (and over a decade later other platforms) remake.
However, I doubt they'll do this, as not only do I feel Capcom lacks the drive and effort to make another game in the old style, but they'd probably see it as an insane risk. It's more likely they'll remake Resident Evil 2 to play a bit like Revelations 2 and 6 do, but lower the movement speed to make it feel more appropriate on their take on the survival horror genre. A Resident Evil 2 remake is more likely to play like Capcom's newer Resident Evil titles, which probably isn't exactly what older fans would want. I know it's already possible to kill basically everything in Resident Evil 2 if your ammo management is adequate, but a remake is more likely to add tons more enemies and make fighting everything small almost mandatory by my guess.

I think you're right about what it's likely to play like; but the sales numbers for REmake HD make me a bit optimistic and even if it plays like a slower RE5 I'd be okay. I don't think police station hallways would work well with RE4's camera though.

Fucking do it

I honestly want the exact same sounds, maybe with a few small exceptions.
I feel like they greatly aided the atmosphere of the game.
Remake on the same scale if not bigger than RE1.
If they are going to do it the way they did RE6, I prefer to play it on my PSONE rather than having to deal with such horrendous gameplay mechanics.
If they rip off or copy Silent Hill (the last ones) control schemes, slap on some very well made zombies and sounds, and revamp the interface, that's enough for me.
Oh, and gib more HUNK plz.
EDIT: I mean, RE2 difficulty with the controls was in the fact that you couldn't HS zombies by your own means. There was a % depending on the distance. If you were to close too zombies then you would HS them.
Having the laser sights implemented, means players would go around Racoon City OHK every zombie in sight.
Unless....unless they add shaking to the laser/aiming....depending on the distance. Now that would be awesome.

I'd appreciate an aiming system like in RE4 but I don't know if the game would survive such an addition.
For the love of god Outbreak remakes please.

I think the same. Unless they retcon the lore and make it so zombies can only be killed if certain % brain damage is done to them. Or something like that.
I'd settle for the original games being re-released on PC.
That would be nice cause it's getting harder everytime I have to reinstall my old Retail boxed copies.
