Hey guys. I got a brand new Asus GL552VW and so far it's chewed through all the games I've thrown at it effortlessly so I'm really happy with the machine. I take my laptop from home to work every morning since I have a lot of free time inbetween tasks but I've noticed this one doing something strange.
If I put it to sleep while it's on AC power and wake it up again without unplugging it, it's fine - it resumes normally without trouble. But if I put it to sleep, unplug it, and bring it to work, it reboots when I wake it up. I can't figure out what the problem is. The event log is not being a big help. Windows gives a cookie cutter code 41 in the event viewer:
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
but that's not terrifically helpful. How can I troubleshoot this problem to determine the cause?
Update the BIOS. I've had the strangest issues fixed by updating the BIOS, so try that.
I'm not entirely certain how to even get into the BIOS on this laptop yet so I'll do some research and figure out how to do it. I was hoping I wouldn't need to do anything like that.
Asus' site is being a piece of shit right now but sometimes you can update the BIOS from Windows...

Did it first thing when I got home and as far as I can tell it worked flawlessly. Thanks for the help.
