I've been working with PS for quite some time now, but I just can't figure out how to make textures (for use in Source engine maps) seamless. Is there a tool designed with this in mind?
feel free to rate me boxes
What I usually do to make it seamless horizontally:
- Make a duplicate of the image, but keep the canvas the same size as the original image
- Place both images side by side, so that they meet in the middle of the image (the seam should be in the middle)
- Manually remove the blatant seam in the middle with brushes, clone tool, whatever.
If you then select all > copy merged, you'll have your seamless image. This process can be repeated vertically as well.
Filter > Other > Offset
Then use the heal tool.
Make sure your brightness levels are even everywhere otherwise the tiling will be very obvious even if you use the heal method
