Hey guys,
I'm looking for a good Multi-Track recorder for use with VAC. I plan on using it to record while recording gameplay footage.
I have access to Cubase 5 and Ableton but they're big programs so I'm looking for a smaller, dedicated program that won't use too much RAM or CPU power.
You guys got any suggestions or should I just use Ableton?
If you're recording from external sources (mics, instruments etc) then you'll need a hardware interface or some form of soundcard with multiple inputs.
Although for smaller scale recording from your existing soundcard/whatever you'd probably get away with using Cubase or Ableton. If you're having problems with latency then try and download ASIO4All. Personally never used with Cubase or Ableton but it works great in FL Studio with very little latency even through motherboard audio.

No no, no external hardware. I'm using VAC (Virtual Audio Cables) I do have a Xenyx_302_USB though - will be putting it to full use once my parents send my guitar over.
My main concern isn't latency, it's purely the CPU and RAM load.
You could try MixPad. I don't know much about it but it seems good enough.
Audacity is always an option.

Audacity can't record multiple sources, only one at a time
If you open two processes, changing one input will just change the other as well
