Hey everyone!
Two questions:
1. Which is better: GBB or AEG blowback?
2. Tell me best GBB or AEG blowback M4's.
1. AEG:
cheaper
easier to use
less maintenance
more bbs
GBB:
Expensive
Needs green gas to fill the (usually leaky) mags, as well as cleaning a lot
Needs to be cleaned a lot
Holds ~50 bbs
2. AEG:
CA EBBs
King Arms Galils and SIGs
JG AKs
TM AKs-74U
GBB
WA SCAR and M4s
KWA MP7
Sun Project M4s
3. If your new (you are new) do NOT get a GBB!!! Get a regular AEG, because adding blowback to a gun will just rake more cash from your (parent's) wallet. Blowback is a waste as well, you cannot see the small bolt moving from 20 feet away. Gas guns need the bolt to function but AEGs don't, so it's more to break and get disappointed about.
But, as we have all learned, you WONT listen to us, or anyone else, and you'll get the GBB and be pissed at us because "you didn't tell me this would be a problem!!!!!!!!!!1" although we did and "teh awesum blwo bak!!!1!!11" is clouding you judgment.
Just stay with a regular AEG. Blowback is a cool feature, but it's something that you don't really need.

Lol :D
That said - i know what im going to do (buy an regular AEG, because gbb or aeg blowback is not for newbies) :)
I'd say getting an AEG would be the way to go here.
Then again, it's not all the horrible to own a GBB Rifle. I like its realism :zoid:
Blowback Rifles add recoil to the game. Makes it much more realistic. It also limits you to 30-50rd's. Getting pretty close to real life magazine capacitys.
Go for an AEG. If you want an AEG with some damn good kick to it, go for the Tokyo Marui SOPMOD M4, assuming you can find one if not afford it. The recoil on that was slightly less than a WE M4, which kicks hard.
I recently bought a CA M4 with their new blowback system. So far I'm impressed with it. You don't really feel much kick, but the gun does sound different. The fake bolt plate makes a clack instead of constantly hearing your gun make the standard electric gearbox noise. I do like the the bolt catch function as well. Grant it, you have to enable it yourself, but it makes it easier to adjust the hop-up. That's another point I should mention, they changed the hop-up to a 1 piece metal design that works like the G36 style hop-up. Now you can make more accurate adjustments.
But if you got the money and have used AEG's for so long and you're bored of them, go for a Ver.3 WE SCAR or M4. I know a store that offers the Ver.3's, let me know if your interested in those. I don't recommend WA style GBB M4's due to the amount of upgrading you have to do to them just to make them skirmishable, and the $80-$100 30rd mags is a big turn off too. At least the WE mags are only $40-$50.
If you have $3000 laying around and you live somewhere where the temperature doesnt drop below 70F then get a GBB, if you don't meet those specifications then get an AEG.

Do you mean $300, or do you expect him to get a gas M249 (and then some)?
Edit: Oh, the gun + upgrades, gotcha.
Oh yeah, I frogot, when you plan on skirmishing all you need is a gun with one lowcap and no gas.
