Apple has today given developers a first glimpse at its latest Mac OS (v10.8) - or Mountain Lion - which is set to launch in the Summer. Mountain Lion appears to include numerous features from iOS, such as Notes, Reminders, iMessage, AirPlay Mirroring and substantial iCloud, Twitter and Game Center integration. It suggests Apple is looking to unify its user experience across multiple devices, including mobile, desktop and laptop products. Game Center Game Center, Apple's gaming hub which provides achievements and social interactivity on iOS will make the jump to Mac, enabling gamers to connect to friends, and is fully compatible with the existing user base and accounts. That means Mac users will be able to browse friends, games and achievements, find multiplayer games, use in-game voice chat and receive notifications. AirPlay Mirroring Apple has also announced that developers will be able to create cross-platform multiplayer Game Center titles which work across Mac and iOS devices. Meanwhile, AirPlay Mirroring is also headed to Mountain Lion, meaning gamers should be able to wirlelessly send their Mac games to their HDTV via Apple TV at 720p - just like iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.
http://www.nowgamer.com/news/1247972/apple_reveals_mountain_lion_mac_os_includes_ios_features_game_centre.html No pictures yet...except for the logo
Come on Apple move away from the lions you have over done them. So are they basically just adding a load of iOS features to OS X? That could work quite well..
Is that logo a joke? Looks like one haha.

mountain lion doesn't like facebook i have no idea why but i got the biggest deja vu spell typing that out http://mashable.com/2012/02/16/apple-mountain-lion-why-no-facebook/
I cannot keep a straight face looking at that logo.
I imagine apple of all companies being able to come up with a suitably recognisable and minimalist logo for their new OS, I really do hope that's a temporary logo for their own sake.
Mac thinks it's a gaming device, how cute.
Mac thinks it's a gaming device, how cute.
It is, considering the target demographic. [SUB]People who pretty much only play Facebook games[/SUB]
The reason why they are doing this is is the first step in merging OSX with iOS. This is because Windows 8 will run natively seeminglessly on desktops, laptops, tablets, and transformers (laptops with touchscreen and detachable keyboards) (maybe phones in the future when Intel releases more x86 phones). MS is actually being innovative for once (haha) and forcing Apple to cannibalize their products, since they want you to own an iPad and a Macbook, but in the future, all tablets will be x86 PC laptops with detchable keyboards (transformers), thus making traditional ARM tablets redundant, and Apple hates this. Apple is going to need to kill either OSX or iOS and merge the features into the remaining one.
Is that logo a joke? Looks like one haha.
Exactly my thoughts. I might purchase a very similar animal, take a photo of it in that pose, then sue the shit out of Apple. Wish me luck, I'm fuckin' skint.
Please be better than Lion. There is a reason most people didn't update.
Something is weird with that logo...the lion just doesn't fit. Makes you think the animal is really bored or depressed. Also I don't know of anyone who uses Game Center. It's looks nice but the only use I have for it is to see what games my friends are playing.

i think it's incredibly stupid of apple to have to update to intermediate software before getting the newest one. For instance my friend has to get snow leopard THEN lion, but no one sells snow leopard.
What kind of name is that?
But windows8 runs on ARM. x86 will come only when we develop better batteries.
Either way the separation between tablets and laptops will thin. It's good too, companies want you to buy both when it's pointless to. And Intel and AMD are serious about their mobile strategy.

Though it's recommended to backup and then format Windows, instead of upgrading. [editline]16th February 2012[/editline]
What kind of name is that?
From an animal.
From an animal.
I'm talking about the 'mountain'. It just sounded dumb.
What kind of name is that?
All OSX releases have used the name of big cats 10.0 : Cheetah 10.1 : Puma 10.2 : Jaguar 10.3 : Panther 10.4 : Tiger 10.5 : Leopard 10.6 : Snow Leopard 10.7 : Lion 10.8 : Mountain Lion [editline]16th February 2012[/editline]
I'm talking about the 'mountain'. Why couldn't they just used cougar? I'm a big fat idiot. Please rate me dumbs
I think that they have realized that they are going to run out of cats.
I'm not seein' a Lynx.
There's always Cougar... [editline]16th February 2012[/editline] ninja'd

50,000 employees and not one can come up with a better logo? I also love the lack of actual major new features.
That logo is terrible.
Logo's terrible, but a small amount of updates is to be expected since it only costs about 20$ to upgrade, or near enough.
