• Detroit police pull over, rob, beat people at gunpoint
The first incident took place at a Citgo gas station near French and I-94 on Detroit's east side last Sunday. The clerk says two white men in a black Ford F-150 with police lights allegedly pistol-whipped customers pumping gas. The men stole cash and cell phones from their victims. A warning went out to be on the lookout for "fake cops" but it turns out those officers were not fake after all. It appears the sergeant in this case was driving his personal vehicle. There were at least two reports of men posing as police officers and robbing unsuspecting drivers at gunpoint. The men had police badges, bullet proof vests and guns. They looked very official and police considered them armed and dangerous. A second incident happened near Harper and 3 Mile Drive. A man says he was pulled over by three men in a unmarked Crown Victoria. The man was searched and while he answered questions, his wallet and CDs were stolen.
Source
Oh man, Detroit cops even going so low as to rob people, that city really is just an awful mess now.
In other news, Detroit celebrates its least violent day in history. Only twelve cops were killed, 32 stores were robbed, 82 muggings took place, and only 83 racial profiling events occurred. A good day for the city of Detroit!
They've been looking for these people for a while.. it was on the news a while back. /sigh Detroit you're full of good people and the few that are bad do..SUPER bad things. I weep for my city.
Can we just blow the damn place up yet? :v:
im dumb
So, what can you do? Even police say you have permission not to stop if you don't believe a real police officer is trying to pull you over. Instead, call 911 and ask the dispatcher for assistance.
Dispatchers only work on certain days and the police stations are closed most of the time..
Harper and 3 Mile Drive.
Jesus fuck I'm surprised those cops weren't shot at for just being there. Any street in ending in Xmile is usually reallly horrible.
Detroit is becoming more and more like robocop every day
Now we just need Robocop
Isn't Detroit getting massive interest from security companies and paramilitaries?
Just another day in Detroit.
Just another day in Detroit.
Then I feel sorry for people living there.
Theres 48 fires a day there and most of the time when a vacant house is burning without another inhabited residence nearby they just let it burn and drive away to reach the next fire. No, I'm not joking.
Jesus fuck I'm surprised those cops weren't shot at for just being there. Any street in ending in Xmile is usually reallly horrible.
a friend of mine lives in detroit. she says 9mile and less is bad. higher up it becomes less dangerous.
Then I feel sorry for people living there.
People live in detroit, on what world?
This actually happens a lot in corrupt or declining places. Police officers are paid such shit wages that its practically an invitation to abuse your job for gain (in some cases the government encourages it). I do know that in Russia, the police officers sometimes have to give a portion of their bribe monies to the station when they return. In Detroit, I would not be surprised if the same happened. That city is beyond saving. I would sell off the land for agriculture or parklands tbh.

Any street in ending in Xmile is usually reallly horrible.
That's a really stupid thing to say. My home when I'm with my mother is on a street ending in 21 mile, 45 minutes north of detroit. The bad ones are 7,8, and sometimes 9 mile. And that's on the city outskirts. 9 mile runs into ferndale and oak park, which are some of the fastest growing cities in the area.
Can we just blow the damn place up yet? :v:
No, because you'll probably blow me up too :(

This is a positive thing in allowing people to first join the Detroit police department and then continue their careers somewhere else, but also negative because it lowers the standards of the entire police department (which is inevitable, considering the lack of manpower).
As a foreigner the more I hear about how bad Detroit is the more I assume it's halfway towards a real life Gotham or something :v: [editline]29th July 2013[/editline] oh ffs
is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Michigan, and is the seat of Wayne County
[editline]29th July 2013[/editline] it never ends is that a burning city in the background by that woman? I had a friend in Detroit who got killed when he went to the supermarket to buy milk. man fuck detroit.
Detroit is becoming more and more like robocop every day
Detroit has a real possibility of becoming a privatized commercial city at this point. It's just a matter of if anyone wants to spend the cash Robocop knew all along This is what happens when your entire city is built on one industry, and then you become one of the worst in that industry
Sorry if I'm missing something but I'm wondering why the US government hasn't intervened with Detroit. I mean, surely they're not going to let the place continue to decay, what with the ridiculous levels of corruption and the fact that the city became bankrupt?
yeah, no one really cares about Detroit to do anything about it
Let's make a collective commercial featuring Detroitians playing this to raise money.

You know there's this Alice Cooper song called "Detroit City" that I for the biggest time thought absolutely praised the shit out of this place. But upon further inspection, and upon learning more about it's economical and political instability, I guess not.
