• Is my bass screwed up?

Hey, my brother recently gave me a bass that he's had lying around and it didn't have strings, so I finally bought some and am now planning on stringing it up. I've looked at a few how-to's but I have noticed that most bridges have 4 pegs, which mine doesn't. There's a picture of my bridge. So, is it possible for me to string this bass? Or should I return these strings and just buy a brand new one?
I'm not sure if you could repair that bridge, might want to bring it into a guitar shop to see if they could take a try at it. It's a nice looking bass though.
Some basses have just two posts on the bridge. It's normal but less common than the ubiquitous 4 pegs. Like this bass for example: String 'er up!
Dude that bass looks fine man put the strings through the holes and lay them in the grooves
there's nothing wrong with that bass... you see two grooves on each post? yeah. strings go there
Sick, thanks.
Nice Bass, btw.
Well you will need to get the pins set up right so the strings don't rub against the frets. So take it into a guitar place and get it fixed up. Fun will be had.
I like it how everyone's been nice so far :)
Can we see a picture of the whole thing?
Looks like the original bridge was removed, what's up with that?
Looks like the original bridge was removed, what's up with that?
perhaps some sort of cap over the bridge ? :/
Wait, is it left handed?
perhaps some sort of cap over the bridge ? :/
Yeah it would have been a bridge cover.
Wait, is it left handed?
looks it
No, it's mirrored. Some webcams do that - you can see by the writing on the knobs.

Even if it was broken(I'm pretty sure it isn't), don't buy a new bass because of it. Just buy a new bridge and put it in or have someone else put it in.
Looks fine to me.. Good luck stringing it your first time.. Took me four guitar strings (their thinner.. maybe that made it harder or something) to get it right.
oh god...some of the advice in this thread is horrible
Such as SickJits? Want to contribute?
i gave advice. good advice. cause i know what i'm doing. dumb shit.
Such as SickJits? Want to contribute?
No... he said the answer, which seems obvious. The strings keep the bridge where it's supposed to be. Moneytracks... your an asshole.
