I'd like a monitor in the next 2-3 weeks that plays 1080p films great and decent for gaming too. I have an i5 2500 and 560ti 1GB, I'd like a 27" for the size but I'd rather get a quality 24". My budget is £200 but looking to save some money :D
I just got a 27" Iiyama prolite E2773HDS for £240 from scan.co.uk, i know it's over your budget but it's a great monitor and recommend it if you find another £40 from somewhere. Also i'm pissed i missed this monitor for a brilliant price. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110813948635

It's price/performance is phenomenal though, and well they are dell ultrasharps.
David's one posted is good. Another good IPS consideration http://www.ebuyer.com/284103-lg-ips235v-ips-lcd-led-23-hdmi-monitor-ips235v-bn?utm_source=google&utm_medium=products
Thanks guys, the £240 I MAY be able to get, apparently if I switch from Barclays bank to Halifax, they are offering £100 switch. I'll check out the others you all posted :D

£100 for a switch is pretty good and Halifax are pretty decent for students if you need an overdraft option. (So you can go up to 1000 overdrawn with no charge) [editline]30th January 2012[/editline] http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-D2342P-PN-AEK-Backlit-Screen-Monitor/dp/tech-data/B005FPUNWU/ref=de_a_smtd
