A wave of apparently co-ordinated bomb attacks in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, has killed at least 63 people and injured around 185, say officials.
The interior ministry told the BBC 14 blasts hit various locations, including al-Amil in the south and Halawi and Karrada closer to the centre.
The bombings are the worst in months - and follow the withdrawal of US troops.
They come amid fears of rising sectarian tensions as the unity government faces internal divisions.
It was not immediately clear who was behind the attacks. However, analysts say the level of co-ordination suggests a planning capability only available to al-Qaeda in Iraq, which is a mainly Sunni insurgent group.
The bombs exploded as many people were travelling to work during the morning rush-hour.
Four car-bombs and 10 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were detonated, officials told the BBC.
A security spokesman in Baghdad, Maj Gen Qassim Atta, said the attacks had not been aimed at security targets.
"They targeted children's schools, day workers and the anti-corruption agency," he told AFP news agency.
Raghad Khalid, a teacher at a kindergarten in Karrada, said "the children were scared and crying".
"Some parts of the car bomb are inside our building."
Smoke was seen rising over Karrada district, with ambulances rushing to the scene.
Another woman said her baby had been covered in glass.
"She is now scared in the next room. All countries are stable. Why don't we have security and stability?" said Um Hanin.
One Baghdad resident, Abu Ali, expressed anger at Iraq's leaders.
"These blasts occurred because of conflicts among politicians," he said.
"We call upon all politicians to resolve their problems and leave people to live in security."
Conflicts among politicians so 65 innocent civilians have to die?
What the flying fuck
Al-Qaeda: Fuckers are finally gone. Now we rave.
It shows how pointless American intervention was. All it caused was devastation of the country. The place will be back to what it was before, or worse, while countless human lifes and massive amount of resources were spent on this.
I find it interesting, if NATO couldn't address and fix the issues in Iraq, what can?

No one can; we just need to avoid the middle east all together and just keep an eye on any terrorist activity that may be a threat to NATO, the US, and its allies. We can't just keep going in to try and fix things at the cost of taxpayers, and more importantly the cost of both soldier's and innocent civilian's lives.

The world needs someone to blame, and they look to the US and other 1st world nations and act surprised when we want to stay isolated from the situation.
Sort of like how the whole Libyan revolution went down; at first we were very adamant about not putting fourth any support toward the rebels; then about halfway through the UN looks at the US awaiting for us to join in on aiding the precision strikes.

We shouldn't have to be the world police (and by we I mean America and her Allies). They can get their shit together on their own, then awesome. If not, let them ask for the help this time, then we can do something
Wasn't the country more stable with Saddam in-charge?

Not really.
The dude was pretty much Hitler of the middle east. He was using chemical weapons on his own people and enemies.

That's not true.
It was much more stable because he used chemical weapons and other extremely brutal methods.
Young democracies are very violent and messy. Hopefully Iraq can find some peace sometime this century.

The United States, Germany, France, the UK, Brazil, Austria, Spain, Egypt, India, Denmark and China?

It was okay when they sold the chemical weapons though because they were only using them to main and kill Iranians (!)

During the first gulf war, yes. However the second invasion was because he was a threat to the US economy by selling oil in Euros instead of dollars for example, which is also what Iran is doing, another country the US seems eager to invade.
It was pretty much bound to happen. Iraq still has ways to go before they start bringing their average quality of life to a decent level. Terrorists thrive on people that see no future for themselves.
