MSTRKRFT is an electronic / techno / DJ Duo from East York (Toronto), the band came right out of the break up of the Toronto Dance Punk band 'Death From Above 1979' in 2005. They have 1 Album released, which had little success, but I think there works are very good. The get their DJ equipment at the same place I do Play De Record (Toronto) MSTRKRFT is short for 'Mastercraft' which is a brand of power tools sold at a Canadian Hardware store called 'Canadian Tire'. The 2 members are Jesse Keeler, (AKA JFK) who used to play Bass Guitar for Death From Above 1979,Al-P (Alex Puodziukas) formerly of the Mississauga electropop group Girlsareshort. There music sounds a bit like Daft Punk, and Justice. In my opinion, there best songs include: Kennedy Killed the Hat (REMIX), D.A.N.C.E (REMIX), and Monster Hospital (REMIX) There First Album, The Looks was released July 18 2006, they have another album planned in March 2008. They are currently touring: 26 Feb 2008 20:00 NEUMOS (ALL AGES) SEATTLE 27 Feb 2008 20:00 HAWTHORNE THEATRE (ALL AGES) PORTLAND 28 Feb 2008 22:00 HARD ROCK (21+) SAN DIEGO 29 Feb 2008 20:00 HENRY FONDA THEATRE (ALL AGES) LOS ANGELES 1 Mar 2008 20:00 NOISEPOP FESTIVAL @ MIGHTY (21+) SAN FRANCISCO 3 Mar 2008 20:00 JET (21+) LAS VEGAS 5 Mar 2008 20:00 BELLY UP (ALL AGES) ASPEN 6 Mar 2008 22:00 THE CHURCH DENVER 7 Mar 2008 20:00 STUDIO B (19+) BROOKLYN 8 Mar 2008 20:00 VISION (21+) CHICAGO 9 Mar 2008 20:00 THE TRALF (ALL AGES) BUFFALO 11 Mar 2008 20:00 WOODY’S (21+) PHILADELPHIA 12 Mar 2008 20:00 OTTOBAR (ALL AGES) BALTIMORE 13 Mar 2008 20:00 MASQUERADE (18+) ATLANTA 14 Mar 2008 20:00 RICH’S (18+) HOUSTON 15 Mar 2008 20:00 SXSW @ VICE (FORMERLY EXHADOUS) AUSTIN 16 Mar 2008 20:00 THE PALLADIUM (ALL AGES) DALLAS 22 Mar 2008 20:00 METROPOLIS (18+) MONTREAL 28 Mar 2008 20:00 ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL MIAMI 1 Apr 2008 20:00 SNOWBOMBING @ EUROPAHAUS TIROL, AUSTRIA 3 Apr 2008 20:00 FLUC VIENNA, AUSTRIA 4 Apr 2008 20:00 HAFEN 2 FRANKFURT, GERMANY 5 Apr 2008 20:00 GEBAUDE 9 COLOGNE, GERMANY 9 Apr 2008 20:00 MASCOTTE ZURICH, SWITZERLAND 10 Apr 2008 20:00 LIDO BERLIN, GERMANY 11 Apr 2008 20:00 REGISTRATUR MUNICH, GERMANY 12 Apr 2008 20:00 MANDARIN KASINO HAMBURG, GERMANY The Looks Album Cover: Songs that MSTRKRFT have remixed include: Panthers - "Thank Me With Your Hands" Death from Above 1979 - "Little Girl" Death from Above 1979 - "Sexy Results" Juliette and the Licks - "Got Love To Kill" Annie - "Heartbeat" Metric - "Monster Hospital" Services - "Elements of Danger" The Kills - "No Wow" Bloc Party - "Two More Years" Buck 65 - "Kennedy Killed The Hat" Wolfmother - "Woman" Polysics - "Ceolakanth Is Android" Gossip - "Listen Up!" The title made me think this was gonna be a banme
I loved DFA 1979, but I don't like MSTRKRFT so much. Their remixes aren't very good in my opinion.
no, MSTRKRFT was short for 'Mastercraft' which is a brand of power tools sold at a Canadian Hardware store called 'Canadian Tire'
Me too, Mblunk.
Lol when I saw it I thought banme aswell.
Lol when I saw it I thought banme aswell.
I didn't. I've known about them since DFA broke up a few years ago.
I'm going to See MSTRKRFT in Toronto, March 20.
I'm going to See MSTRKRFT in Toronto, March 20.
I saw them at Oxegen, last month. Was fucking amazing.
I just got their album last week (Have been listening to DFA 1979 for a while). It's pretty good, a bit generic, I usually put it on when people are over.
They're alright, Neon Knights is their best track in my opinion.
I'm gonna work on you, until you feel alright. I'm gonna make you mine, under the disco light. :v:
i like their remix remix of justice's 'dance'
i like their remix remix of justice's 'dance'
Me too, man this thread is OLD!!
The Crystal Method - Keep Hope Alive (MSTRKRFT Remix) is awesome. I need to hear more of their work.
DFA79 is my favorite band of it's kind. Wish they didn't break up :( Hence my avatar.
yeah its too bad they broke up. oh well, i'd raher see them break up after 1 EP and album then do what the rolling stones did and just keep throwing out albums for 40 years.
Dang! Fist of God was leaked. Pretty impressive it lasted this long though. Also, MSTRKRFT, Fri May 1st, Dublin - I'm so there.
MSTRKRFT 1st May was UNREAL.
I love MSTRKRFT! -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXvYZzXzyD0&fmt=18
I love MSTRKRFT.
i liked the remix of dance in cross, maybe ill get their album
I'm debating whether or not to go to Lollapalooza 2009 just to see them!
I've listened to some of their art. Their music is really hard to find. I've yet to find any records in music shops or whatever they are called.
I'm gonna work on you.... Under the disco lights.... Got that song stuck in my head now, damnit.
I've listened to some of their art. Their music is really hard to find. I've yet to find any records in music shops or whatever they are called.
I have both their albums. They've released a few singles and shit. Hit me up if you want any of their remixes (AFAIK, I've got EVERY MSTRKRFT song :D).
i am going to see them :c00l:
MSTRKRFT is good but I don't really like Fist of God. It's still good but compared to Looks it's lacking.
I used to love them, but Heartbreaker with John Legend is shit
Mstrkrft is amazing found out about them with their remix of Justice's dance a long time ago. One thing about them is their songs are kinda flat by themselves, but just like Justice when you listen to a set or their remixes its amazing.
