If you've never played this series, give this one a try. It's $14.99 on Steam. 30 FPS cap can be excused in my opinion since it's a 2011 PS3 game and it's being sold for really cheap because of that. Durante says it's a really smooth and polished port besides that.

Also the soundtrack for this entire series is pretty great. It's made by a lot of the people who did Tenchu

I used to play the hell out of this on the PS2.

WotS1/2 on PS2 were god-tier games. I want to emulate them.

WotS1, I 100%'d with glee. WotS2 always boggled me due to how much more catches and other factors there were to it all, though, and it was easy to miss an important event you didn't know about and get relegated to the generic 'everyone dies except you' ending.

Yeah, it took a lot of playthroughs to understand the logic of the game, very convoluted compared to the first. I remember it being one of the few reasons I'd go and play my console.
Would it be worth getting the first 2? First WOTS game I played was on PSP and despite the platform it was fucking great. Already pre-ordered this, still can't believe its so cheap compared the price of other jap games on steam.

Worth playing? Definitely.
Worth getting? It's not like they'll make any money off second hand sales.

Not yet but I remember God Hand was easily found a few years back. Now the price is bumping up nearly every few months.
Same happened with Snake Eater Subsistence.

Seems to work great on PCSX2

Still some obvious slow downs especially with the audio. Primary reason I bought a PS2 again is because I wasn't sure emulation was ever gonna cut it since some games plain don't work properly with it.
It's a shame there aren't any official emulators or anything like that. Games like these really stand out by themselves I mean I can't think of anything close to the likes of WOTS or God Hand happening anymore.
I have the original Way of the Samurai in my PS2 right next to me, and I always wanted to play the newer ones, but didn't have the PS3 for it. Is the 4th one on par gameplay wise as the original? The gameplay video looks pretty damn good but I'm still somewhat hesitant.

When it comes to gameplay, it's very iterative. Lots more weapons/combat styles, lots more mini games and lots more content (except from going from 3 to 4, they streamlined it because there was too much and it confused people).
