An Australian teenager allegedly discussed packing a kangaroo with explosives, painting it with an Islamic State symbol and setting it on police, a Melbourne court has heard.
Sevdet Ramadan Besim, 19, was committed to trial on Thursday after pleading not guilty to four terror charges.
He is accused of plotting to run down and behead a police officer in Melbourne on Anzac Day. Mr Besim was one of five teens arrested in police raids in April last year.
He is accused of planning the attack with a teenager, from Blackburn in the UK, who has been sentenced for his part in the Anzac day plot.
"I'd love to take out some cops," Mr Besim allegedly wrote.
He faces charges relating to searching internet sites, engaging in communications and creating a memo with the intention of planning a terrorist attack.
What an idiot.
Well I mean at least he's being creative.
Good way to start war with Australia though.
why a kangaroo
why not help the emus strike back?
This sounds like a totally nonserious joke someone tells you at a bar.
yea because a kangaroo will let you get close enough to do that and not jump kick your brains out

You can get close to them once they're on the barbie.
Really? Nobody's made a 'kangaboom' joke yet?
Even if they somehow managed to get explosives on/in a Kangaroo (one hell of a logistical challenge), the challenge of getting it to run towards a crowd (specifically police), and not in the other direction is bordering on the laughably absurd.

Bangaroo? :vs:
Just a normal day in Australia, really.

Some Kangaroo bangers and mash (mush?).
Those Aussies are ruthless. They even wired up kangaroos with explosives, come hoppin' into camp, knock out 10 guys.

Shit, that can be the first item on the 'True Blue' portion of our restaurant's menu.

I didn't take boomerang shrapnel in the Australian-American War just to see jokes about it.

It still comes back to haunt you, does it?
Has anyone else noticed it's mostly morons who join ISIS?
why not help the emus strike back?
why would the emus want revenge?
they won for god sake
Has anyone else noticed it's mostly morons who join ISIS?
I can't really say why someone may join ISIS seeing as I've been a bit ignorant to the why and circumstances of people abandoning their nations to join a ragtag bunch of terrorists. But something tells me that if a person is willing to just say "fuck it" to their lives, some being teens who shouldn't even normally have the capability to be able to get all the way out there on their own from their home countries, they're either a deadset individual that can handle themselves - or they're a goddamn idiot that's running headfirst into a suicidal situation because they lack any sort of logical deduction or self-preservation.

This is something I remember being said almost word-for-word from Grand Theft Auto III.
Guy called into Chatterbox FM and was angry Lazlow didn't know what the Australian-American War was. He specifically mentioned auzzies strapping explosives to kangaroos and sending them into camps.

Alright there Mitch......

It's both.
Despite how many reports there are of ISIS supporters being utter fucktards, you would be dreadfully mistaken if you think they all are.
reminds me of the Grand Theft Auto commercial in game about the great Australian wars everybody forgot about lol
"Them blood thirsty buggers would jump into camp take out 10 guys" lol
I wonder if all these teenage isis sympathizers are actually pro-isis or just a bunch of undereducated edgelords who want to want to be a part of a very visible counterculture that isn't just a bunch of kids in black hanging out in malls and don't see all the shit the news plays about the heinous acts isis affiliates commit.

Probable the latter with shades of the former, given how you have the media blowing things up (heh) to make it look as if a notable majority of muslims are ISIS supporters and see the far/center right pushing against them. ISIS knows this and exploits it to full effect through both encouraging marginalisation of muslims with various terror attacks/actions and painting their territories as a happy sunshine land where they'll find like-minded friends.

My hometown yet again being affiliated with terrorism. For anybody who still doubts me from previous threads. This is the first I'd heard of it, strange to see it so casually.
The Aussie version of Four Lions?
allah ackbar ya roo cunt
Has anyone else noticed it's mostly morons who join ISIS?
Well given that what they're getting into, do you really expect anything else?
He faces charges relating to searching internet sites, engaging in communications and creating a memo
This just sounds like some idiot saying/searching for dumb things which he believed to be private with another of his idiot friends. Instead of arresting this dude for his speech and internet habits, how about you keep an eye on him until he shows ACTUAL evidence of preparing for the attack (waiting for evidence of him creating explosives, capturing kangaroos, etc). As it stands, this article just sounds like it is trying REALLY hard to paint some teenager as a terrorist because he discussed a (rediculous) attack with someone and searched for things presumably related to such a plot. I don't think these things by themselves should warrant criminal prosecution
