The title says it all. I am looking for a car with more space and was wondering about the quality of a ford taurus compared to a tacoma.

to clarify i would sell the tacoma and use the money to buy the car (its 3300)
NO.
Don't buy a Taurus of that generation, big floaty boat with horrible choice in audio and an unresponsive engine with horrible mileage which is a pain in the ass to maintain.
If I were you, I'd avoid any Ford product pre-2007, and that pretty much puts them out of your price range. But honestly, they're terrible up until lately. They've gotten pretty good.
The taurus is safe as hell, but it's just an awful car with no style and just... Just, no.
I thought you were wanting better mileage? You know the Taurus is rated for 20, right, the same mileage you said you were getting with your truck?
If I were you I'd definately look at something Japanese or German if you're dead set on the 2000+ era. Toyotas get great mileage but not many roomy options, a Honda Accord would be your best bet if you're looking for something with 4 doors and 5+ MPG over the truck or more. The Corolla is another good choice, along with its GM counterpart the Prizm, they both get up to 30-31MPG and are available in a four-door sedan body. The Dodge Neon is also a decent choice, I've owned one of those and they drive out great. Plus, they're cheap as hell and still get more than 5 MPG more than the Tacoma.
So many other options for your price or less that you could go with, the Taurus is just a bad decision.
didnt say anything about improving gas mileage. I just want a back seat instead of a bench that I am forced to cram three people into. I will look into corollas though.
bradley about summed it up
I have no interest in trucks, but I'd take a toyota truck over a piece of shit american car any day

look into the newer hyundai elantra/sonata or a honda civic/accord
Why would you sell your Tacoma? Mine makes me weep with joy.

What kind do you have? 4 cylinder with a bench seat or 6 with a crew cab?
