UKIP treasurer Stuart Wheeler has denied being sexist by saying women were "nowhere near as good as men" at games like chess, bridge and poker. The spread-betting tycoon made the comment during a debate on EU proposals for gender quotas in the boardroom. [...] Explaining his comments on BBC Radio 4's The World at One, he said: "I pointed out that in certain areas, women did not do as well as men, and then I cited poker, bridge and chess.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-23710890
From the quotes it seems he thought it was factually accurate that men are better at chess, bridge and poker. If this is true then what he said wasn't sexist as it's true, if it's not true and he just made it up then it's sexist.
I think somebody doesn't understand definition of sexism.

oh ukip...
there is no evidence whatsoever that men are better at poker, bridge or chess.
I guess it might be true to say that generally, women are less experienced in these games than men, but that's simply because they are already often excluded by the communities playing these. Less of "female players are worse at the game" and more of "female players aren't as frequent".
