I've used DXTory quite a bit, it's great with the Lagarith Lossless Codec on your framerate and write speeds while maintaining high quality. Usually about 1/5th the file size that Fraps spits out of equal length
I've always used shadowplay, but ever since the update to the new and "improved" geforce client it's been a huge pile of shit. I have no clue why but it'll freeze constantly/crash/not record a damn thing. used to be 10/10, now it's nearly unusable. Unbelievably frustrating.

I actually haven't had a problem with Shadow. Unlike other game recording software I've used it works the most consistently and with its HEVC compression spits out video I'm pleased with. OBS I find *can work well but from my testing it's way more temperamental.
Shadowplay would be better if it wasnt' baked into an overlay that is a hit or miss. I wish they would release it as a standalone client. It's really simple and is why I enjoy using it.

But when I switched to grabbing 60 FPS footage I didn't have an external drive that could handle the obscene write rate that it needed and everything came out at like 45 FPS max most of the time. It's just too hard on drives for me, so I switched to Shadowplay and have had no problems with it so I'll probably keep using it. I do miss the amazing quality of Lagarith though. Don't miss the filesize.
