I'm helping my friend put together a little christmas present, and I wanna make sure I'm doing it right. So here's what I got thus far... OCZ StealthXstream 600W PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341039 ASUS Radeon HD 5770 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121363 COOLER MASTER CM690 II Basic case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119215 SAMSUNG DVD burner http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151220 AMD Phenom II X4 955 CPU GIGABYTE Micro ATX motherboard with USB3.0 and 6Gb/s SATA Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM HDD G.SKILL Ripjaws 4GB DDR3 1600 RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.548058 I'm a little concerned about that combo deal. It has the processor I want and the RAM seems nice, but I head Seagate Barracuda hard disks have some reliability issues and the motherboard is Micro ATX so space might be an issue (especially if he decides to upgrade in the future) So, is everything compatible? Are there parts I could be getting that are cheaper for the same performance, or more powerful for about the same price? As of now, with tax and shipping it comes out to $656.93 Thank you for your consideration
Not all Seagate drives. Seagate drives are just fine. I don't get it. In one thread I told someone that one particular Seagate drive had some issues. (JUST THAT ONE.) And all of a sudden everyone thinks all Seagate is bad? [editline]27th November 2010[/editline] The 7200.11 series is bad. All others are fine.
Don't be narcissistic. I hear it quite frequently on /g/ and I've heard it several times on facepunch.
I'm not being selfish at all? Theres nothing wrong with Seagate.
I got a Western Digital and that happened to be defected. I then got a Seagate with similar specs and it worked great.. So each batch has it's goods and bads.
A spinpoint F3 is a better value, regardless of whether or not the seagate is going to fail.
I think this 5770/PSU combination is better: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.553637
A spinpoint F3 is a better value, regardless of whether or not the seagate is going to fail.
it's a combo [editline]27th November 2010[/editline]
Care to elaborate?
is it really that hard to just google "samsung spinpoint f3 review". It's the best performing and usually the cheapest 1TB drive around.
yes, I've heard from many many people and reviews that spinpoints are fast and reliable. But they're like 20 bucks more (and that's not including the combo discount). I'm trying to save as much as I can here.

The PSU is 650W instead of 600W, but do I need it?
How is space going to be an issue? As you can tell by the micro in microATX, it's smaller than the standard size of ATX. The casing supports mATX and ATX.

But if the power supply really is better, then I suppose it's worth it. I heard that newegg will charge you extra if you use more than one combo deal though. is this true?
