Scientists at NASA have released some incredible images revealing an enormous dark hole over our sun.Corey Powell, Editor of Discover Magazine, joined Bill Hemmer on America’s Newsroom this morning to explain the giant black hole, and what it means for us here on Earth.“The reason it’s dark is that whole chunk of the sun basically ripped off, blew out and is coming our way at about two million miles an hour,” said Powell.
Well, that doesn’t sound good. Powell explained that this phenomenon happens frequently, but we don’t often see something this large. He said that when the chunk of the sun hits Earth, it would cause auroras, and would wiggle the magnetic field. The major concern would be potential disruptions to GPS signals and interference withcommunication satellites and power lines.

Oh man! My life's only just begun! Why! The aurora's won't reach me this time either!
[editline]30th July 2013[/editline]
ETA: 44 hours
Is this actually real.
like holy crap
It won't incinerate the Earth or anything.
its fake
as soon as i saw black hole near our sun i legit thought we were all dead lol
So this is going take about 7 years to get to us if my shitty math skills don't fail me.
So we gonna see auroras further south than usual?

OH nvm.
Goddammit my automerge.
Aside from the potential damage, seeing auroras and stuff is going to be pretty sweet.
they say 'black hole' and i immediately got confused and scared because i thought a superdense object was heading towards us
then i realised it wasn't that and relaxed
but then i remembered part of the sun is flying toward us

They failed you. 44 hours.
This article is misleading, there is no black hole in our sun
...is it... is it happening?
this isn't real
i mean look at the source ffs

46 Hours.
Saw this picture a few days ago. Yes the picture is real but the story is fake, move along
-I'm retarded and paranoid move along-

...
But either way, the Sun is bound to screw with our tech eventually.

I'm really fucked at math
but
how do you even get that
just how
Black hole sun, won't you come?
Won't you come?
What does this mean, exactly? So like, what is the absolute worst it could do?
make you crap yourself out of fear and paranoia
So it will be happening in about 42 hours from now?
Better set an alarm, also will I see the aurora in rural Scotland?
wait its not real nvm lol I'm a retard
It's new news-- it just launched as opposed to us knowing it may
Wow. And you guys laugh at people that believe ONN articles.
Well according to the scientist the absolute worst it could do is cause some Communications Sattelites to fizzle and upset surface powerlines.
Little to no actual radiation damage that kills planets or whatever we're afraid of.

Been there done that, what else is new
It's definitely radiation damage that [sub]harms satellites and things in upper atmosphere and possible power grids[/sub]
So long as it doesn't fry my computer, I could probably withstand a bit of net downtime. Besides, the aurora should be a sight to see, so long as we lock up our Triffids.

What I meant by that is that it's not the Planet Killing Death Murder [del]Muslamic[/del] Death-Rays that we all fear.
i see it outside my window right now here it comes!
