• PC Gamer Review For Modern Warfare 3 Delayed Due to Receiving an Xbox 360 Copy From Activision
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is out, and you’ll see Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 reviews appearing all over the place. We don’t have a review yet because we haven’t had access to the PC version until the game was officially released. We did get a copy this morning, but it was for the Xbox 360. :(So Graham went and bought a copy this morning. He’s playing it for review right now.The copy Graham bought this morning is the first we’ve seen of PC code. The PC version hasn’t been shown at any preview events and the videos and screenshots have all come from console versions. The console mags in our building all got early access to console versions of the game, but the PC has been mysteriously absent. The Call of Duty Elite service that console players can use to track stats and stay in touch with friends has been delayed on pc, too. Still, it’s in shops, unlocked on Steam and we’re getting stuck in right now. We’ll bring you our impressions and our full review once we’ve had a chance to play it properly. Are you playing Modern Warfare 3? What do you think so far? Update: Activision’s UK PR team have been in touch, and have explained that the Xbox 360 copy was a bit of a mixup. They feel sad and have sent their apologies. Poor sad PR team. Everyone send cuddles.
:v:
God damn Activision, heartless bastards.
God damn Activision, heartless bastards.
They said sorry
Whoo, more bad rep for Activision!
Whoo, more bad rep for Activision!
They deserve it. :v:
Really pathetic PR department if they couldn't see this problem in the first place. Especially since PC Gamer has been Call of Duty's original media outlet since it first came out.
Dunno what kind of people are working in their PR department these days. "Well, we need to advertise our new game! Lets send a gaming magazine a copy of our game!" "Sure, lets send this copy to PC Gamer" *Few days later* "Wait, did you remember which platform that game you sent is for?"
Hate how Activision has treated the PC community. I mean its not like CoD was born and started on the PC.

"XBox ofcourse. Dumbass."
Shouldn't Activision give some kind of compensation for this? Not to have MW3 on the front cover will be a massive kick in the nuts when everyone else has.
Stop being rude, I too would've been confused! The name of PC Gamer doesn't even give any obvious indicators about which platform they want!
Shouldn't Activision give some kind of compensation for this? Not to have MW3 on the front cover will be a massive kick in the nuts when everyone else has.
PC Gamer wouldn't have put it on the cover anyway, they gave Black Ops a shit review
PC Gamer wouldn't have put it on the cover anyway, they gave Black Ops a shit review
because it deserved it
Hate how Activision has treated the PC community. I mean its not like CoD was born and started on the PC.
You should be hating how Activion has treated everybody. All platforms have suffered to some degree with their vicious DLC models, their developers have suffered under them, being condensed into one super developer for CoD it seems (seriously, they keep cutting down developers and merging them into CoD somehow). [editline]8th November 2011[/editline]
PC Gamer wouldn't have put it on the cover anyway, they gave Black Ops a shit review
I found it kind of funny that OPS3M gave MW3 a 9/10, I didn't see one bit of criticism in the review. A few hours ago they started nitpicking the game over Twitter pointing out asset re-usage :v: It can only go downhill from there I think.
Hate how Activision has treated the PC community. I mean its not like CoD was born and started on the PC.
I think you're all over-reacting, it could have just been a mix up you know :v:.
I think you're all over-reacting, it could have just been a mix up you know :v:.
But that makes sense! That's a perfectly reasonable reaction to this, and this is Activision!
What game is this? I'm confused.
PC Gamer gave Black Ops a 64, so clearly Activision did this on purpose. It's good to see there's at least one major game publication that can give Call of Duty an honest review.
What game is this? I'm confused.
that game that's a reskin of MW2 [editline]8th November 2011[/editline]
PC Gamer gave Black Ops a 64, so clearly Activision did this on purpose.
Really pathetic PR department if they couldn't see this problem in the first place. Especially since PC Gamer has been Call of Duty's original media outlet since it first came out.
It was most likely an accident, someone just picked up the wrong copy when stuffing it in an envelope.
It was most likely an accident, someone just picked up the wrong copy when stuffing it in an envelope.
this really, you guys are being pretty stupid about this its like you guys are thinking that the guys at Activision were looking at 'PC Gamer' and thought: 'they need an xbox 360 copy of the game'
holy shit guys, you're acting like this is worth lynching Activision over. It's a fucking mix-up, mistakes happen all the time.
Meanwhile, the guys at Rock, Paper, Shotgun didn't receive a copy at all nor were they invited to the launch party. Must be due to the lack of review scores and because Activision knows that they'll actually criticize the game a bit.
would have put it in the computer anyways, if it dosn't work, 0/100
What game is this? I'm confused.
It's the new MW2 map pack.
PC Gamer wouldn't have put it on the cover anyway, they gave Black Ops a shit review
Yet they named it shooter of the year.
this really, you guys are being pretty stupid about this its like you guys are thinking that the guys at Activision were looking at 'PC Gamer' and thought: 'they need an xbox 360 copy of the game'
No, it's more like the guys at Activision were looking at PC Gamer and thought: 'How can we avoid another poor score on release day? Delay their review by sending them the wrong copy'.
would have put it in the computer anyways, if it dosn't work, 0/100
That would've been brilliant. "We received a copy of the game from Activision, we tried playing it, but we couldn't even install it, so we'll have to give it a zero due to not even beginning to work".
That would've been brilliant. "We received a copy of the game from Activision, we tried playing it, but we couldn't even install it, so we'll have to give it a zero due to not even beginning to work".
exactly
They should put it in the small reviews along with indie games and free to play reviews.
