Australia has been ranked as the world's happiest nation among developed economies for the third year running.
Australia won the top position, due to the overall strength of its economy, in the Better Life Index compiled by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Sweden, Canada, Norway and Switzerland also made it to the top five.
The survey ranked more than 30 countries on criteria such as income levels, health, safety and housing.
I'm not surprised to be honest. Life is pretty good here; we have decent primary and secondary education and healthcare (both public and private options as well), outside of the big cities real estate is also reasonable. Plenty of universities around and if you want to do a trade you have plenty of options through many apprenticeships and traineeships. Work is pretty good as well, when I was 17 I was getting $25 an hour doing unskilled labour in a plant (between jobs at the moment though). We also were the only major developed nation not affected by the global financial crisis. So yeah life has been pretty good, come to Straya cunts!
This doesn't compensate for the fact that the wildlife there is batshit scary, though :v:
Clearly it was the greatness of Comrade Bill Gates visit to meet with our lovely Prime Minister Julia Gillard who will lead our great country to glory on international stage which has caused Australian people to get behind Comrade Gillard for happiness.

yeah sure is happy if you're an australian born to an australian who was born to an australian who went to australia on a boat from britain but australia's nationalism makes Alabama look like a friendly place to visit.
Not America? Obvious liberal bias, find a new source OP.
i've found that us aussies love to whinge but in the end australia is basically one of the best countries to live in

Our nature wants to kill us and we're still happier than the majority of countries.
Unhappy people will be censored anyway.

You're falsely educated.

Most Australian people are really damn nice.

That's funny cause I see the same from America, reminds me of that top gear episode where they go to Alabama

I've never seen anything like that happen in Australia, we don't really have concentrations of idiots in Australia
as much as I see fuck off we're full and awol fifo and videos about aussies shouting at foreigners
To be fair we try to pretend that doesn't happen.

My old Rainbow Lorikeet learnt the sound of our phone, made the sound whenever he wanted to annoy us. Holy shit.
Unhappy people will be censored anyway.
We don't have censorship though...
And doesn't Croatia have issues with media censorship? Because that would make your statement pretty ironic
Doesn't Australia have like, super spiders though?
Happiest nation my arse. I'll stay where they don't have health bars, thank you.

One of my friend's birds did this so that it could get guaranteed attention when it wanted it.
yeah sure is happy if you're an australian born to an australian who was born to an australian who went to australia on a boat from britain but australia's nationalism makes Alabama look like a friendly place to visit.
I find that most of the nationalism around here is usually pretty friendly in nature (just friends messing with one another most of the time). Of course there is a VERY vocal few individuals who truly are overly nationalistic, even racist pricks. They don't represent the majority of the population, though. Again, they're just a very vocal few.
Australia is honestly all you can ask for, good food, good people, good community spirit and everyone gets a fair go, what more could you ask for
Australia is very very multicultural.
Yeah but isn't most of the country full of racists? Every single one of my friends who's been there has said they were very surprised at how blatantly and casually racist the majority of people were. Particularly against the large Asian population, as well as the indigenous people.

Unless you're Aboriginal. There hasn't been a country since Apartheid South Africa that has been more criticised by the United Nations for its racism.
Everyone around my area is nice too. The worse thing i've heard of or seen nearby is a car crash. Nothing too bad. Literally everyone is nice.
Almost every Australian I've met on Steam appears to be incredibly rich.
I don't understand how a strong economy and high life expectants leads to a happy country, all I see every day people looking averagely sad and a shit tonne of crime that the government can't be fucked dealing with.
I'd be alot more happy if there was at least one day where trains weren't late or don't have problems, I wasn't paranoid everytime I go to the trainstation and I'd be super duper happy if things weren't so damn expensive.
