The Acting Thread: Theater, Improv, Film, Musicals and Such

This thread is for anyone who performs in character ("In a band" = not an actor, "In a musical" = actor, ect.) So discuss current plays/movies/shows you're in, past shows, anything you like. I'll start it off I guess. I am currently on the A-Squad improv team at my high school, and just got one of the leads in the play The Matchmaker, Mr. Vandergelder. And Opening night for the musical I'm in right now, The Wiz, is next week, so yea. I'm stressed out as fuck.
I once played one of the three wise men when I was 7 does that count?

My high school is doing Beauty and the Beast this year and I'm Gaston. This despite having the most lithe build in the department, but we're ordering a muscle suit, haha.
Sorry, haven't been posting because my current show, The Wiz, just opened. Had a fantastic opening and second night, about to leave for call for our first matinee, wish me luck!
Good luck, and have fun !
I act in short movies of my own.
Me and a friend of mine are going to preform a scene from Glengarry Glen Ross next week.

that's an awesome movie, what scene are you doing?

Sadly this is the first time I've heard about it, but we decided to do it once we started finding out more.
So far we think it's great and I'm going to watch the film once we're done preforming.
We're doing the very first scene.

are you tommy wiseau by any chance?
I've found improv to be the coolest way of to handle not just acting, but handling people as well. It's taught me to say yes to things.
Did the Odd Couple, played Oscar.

Ahh, I love improv. This Friday my team and I are going to a workshop notorious for destroying your self esteem and ripping your delusions to shreds. It sounds like a breath of fresh air, to be honest. I have not seen all of the Odd Couple, though I have done a couple scenes from it.
Well, I have not been able to post about this due to life happening, but my show, The Wiz, closed. Lots of semi-manly tears were shed before/during curtain call/at cast party/the next couple of days. One of the best experiences I have ever had. Now I just can't wait for next year when auditions open for Legally Blonde: The Musical. If you have not seen it, here you go. Really hoping for Emett hehe
Doing "The Importance of Being Earnest" right now, playing Algernon Moncrieff. I'm kind of frightened, as this is my first production... Any tips for a newcomer?
I attended acting classes for about 3 years but my friends put me off it.

That happens. Especially in acting classes. Stage crew is where the chill people are at.

If you mean about being frightened, yes. People think that "stage fright" is a thing. It just means you care and are exited. Don't get me wrong, that adrenaline that you get just before (and months before, to be honest) feels almost exactly like fear or nervousness. But unlike fear, you can channel it into energy you can work with, and this isn't even hippie bullshit. It's as simple as taking that "fight or flight" rush, and choosing fight. If you mean about the play, just have fun. That sounds cliche, but if you play around with lines and blocking and just let the character do the work, it looks and feels 100% natural. The key to good acting is doing as little of it as possible, just get into character and tag along. Good luck!
I did the recordings for PVP-Voice Actings audition.
Well allmost, since in the end my voice was to tired for me to do the singing part for it.
Just bought this camera for some amatures filmmaking http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/c.html/ref=aw_ol_c_nq_1
Still haven't made recorded my singing.
Wellp, tomorrow it is.

i can't seem to remember the very first scene
is that the one where the guy comes and is like "second prize, a set of steak knives, third prize, your ass is fired"
Just had my opening night for The Matchmaker. I got to play Horace Vandergelder, so I pretty much got to get on stage and rant about how women are supposed to submit to men and all that. Never had more fun in my life.
