• Build for my brother (photo editing, video editing small) -650-700 Euro

Hey everyone My little brother was really happy with the build everyone helped me with over here Now my older brother wants a build too, He mainly uses: Photoshop, after effects & besides that not too much. He does want it to be fast; but compared to the laptop he has now (Asus n75sf) a lot of things will seem very fast . So basically I've checked the build I did for my little brother (Gaming PC , ended up costing 1100,- for everything included case, hardware etc) And I've downgraded it to be more realistic Should be a total of 650-700euro this is current: http://azerty.nl/winkelmandje/winkelmandje/?legen=1&product%5B399203%5D=1&product%5B452185%5D=1&product%5B683532%5D=1&product%5B629110%5D=1&product%5B678980%5D=1&product%5B497998%5D=1&product%5B572302%5D=1&product%5B740487%5D=1 (Direct link, dutch site but the components should be clear) I was wondering what to improve/what can be saved in money Thanks! [editline]13th January 2015[/editline] PS: Already have a windows installation CD Case includes fan Don't think really need too powerful cooling for this build [editline]13th January 2015[/editline]
Yeah it's pretty ok for a build. Corsairs VS series is a bit shit honestly, but other then that it's really solid. Possibly change out the PSU for a Seasonic or a CX series from Corsair.
Ah thanks for the advice, I' think 550 will be enough , right? -edit http://azerty.nl/winkelmandje/winkelmandje/?legen=1&product%5B399203%5D=1&product%5B452185%5D=1&product%5B683532%5D=1&product%5B629110%5D=1&product%5B678980%5D=1&product%5B497998%5D=1&product%5B572302%5D=1&product%5B215542%5D=1 This looks better, right?
with all of that with room to breathe yeah 500 is plenty.
Thanks , I've edited it and instead got a higher rated PSU Think it's pretty decent now, anything I could save on or does it looks like a go & enjoy build? Regards
Holddd uppp. That Motherboard and CPU are not compatible. You will need an H97 motherboard for that processor.
Oh thanks, haha! Damn, almost ordered it. Thank you dude, else I'd have some trouble haha

For photo editing and video editing, I think a bit more RAM wouldn't hurt. Total of 12 or 16, nothing more. I mean I dont even think 4GB sticks are worth buying anymore.

I'd probably go AMD over Intel in that priceclass. Basing a build off http://www.logicalincrements.com/ is pretty much the way to go for most builds unless you know what you're doing. Its not that your build doesn't work, its just that some nerds, went through the efforts of carefully optimizing the ones on logicalincrements, so you'll probably get a little bit more bang for your buck. If you put the language on dutch, it will generate azerty links for you. If you take the superb build, drop the ssd you end up at 686 euro's and you'll have a slightly better CPU and a much better GPU and the rest is comparable.

I'm really an intel guy so im not sure about the amd processor http://azerty.nl/winkelmandje/winkelmandje/?legen=1&product[563659]=1&product[543146]=1&product[399203]=1&product[630966]=1&product[452185]=1&product[629110]=1&product[570611]=1&product[740487]=1 [editline]15th January 2015[/editline] so now its that build vs this build http://azerty.nl/winkelmandje/winkelmandje/?legen=1&product[399203]=1&product[452185]=1&product[683532]=1&product[629110]=1&product[678980]=1&product[572302]=1&product[740487]=1&product[688144]=1
I can't see the second build, but the first one seems fine. Add a cheap CPU cooler like Hyper TX3 EVO or 212 Evo, the stock one is very loud.

Yeah you're looking good, and the Intel processor really is best in your budget. Plus, logical increments does some weird shit. It really isn't the best to take as what to buy, but it's pretty good guidelines. Definitely not the best recommendations.

The I5-4460 benchmarks 6,707 on CPU Mark The FX-8320 benchmarks 8,076 on CPU Mark You could argue that the single-core performance of the I5 is better, which would beneficial for some games, but the FX-8320 is still within acceptable bounds for single core performance, and you can probably bump the frequency from the FX-8320 to be equal to a FX-8350 even on a 20 euro cooler. The GTX 770, scores 6155 on G3D Mark The GTX 750 TI scores 3689 on G3D Mark (the OC would score a few hundred points higher)
This guide is good in trying to make sure the builds are balanced. This means that none of the builds is CPU heavy at the cost of a weak GPU, or has lots of RAM but a low capacity HDD, etc etc.
Which will be beneficial in MOST games. I don't like it, but most games are still heavily single threaded.
Which will be beneficial in MOST games. I don't like it, but most games are still heavily single threaded.
Any game that has threading problems, is more then old enough to be comfortably played on an FX-8320. Either way this isn't a gaming build.
Its indeed not a gaming build , thanks for all the help

so the best build to go is the AMD + 770? =1&product[543146]=1&product[399203]=1&product[630966]=1&product[452185]=1&product[629110]=1&product[570611]=1&product[740487]=1"]so that would be this
Hmm, now I'm confused which build to go for. It's mostly the processor I'm thinking about, the AMD or intel ? and with the AMD I can save some money and increase the budget for the video card, so I really still wonder which one to go with thanks everyone for their help
Well after some thought and another opinion on it (thanks level) if he isn't gaming most of the time, get the AMD build, simply cause those cores that the fx processor has will be more useful for editing and rendering. I just recommended the i5 cause it was cheaper and offered almost similar performance.(synthetic benchmarks doesn't really mean much until you put it under real world) I think he'll be ok with the AMD build.
Ah thanks, this is advice that is real useful. AMD It will be then, I guess :)!
I really would not advise going with an AMD. They consume nearly twice the amount of electricity than an equivalent Intel processor. This means that overtime you would have spent more money using the processor as opposed to going with Intel in the first place. In the end going with Intel is better value. Aside from that all cores on the AMD FX 8-series processor are relatively weak and won't hold up to a modern Intel 4 core processor. Most Corsair PSU units are mediocre. Their high tier units are pretty good but overpriced compared to other alternatives. I'd spend a bit extra and get a much better quality unit instead. I don't recommend a GTX 760 since they aren't great value. Today an AMD R9 280 is a much better choice since they perform better than a GTX 760 whilst costing the same. The RAM you listed is really overpriced. You should get the cheapest desktop DDR3 RAM set (2x4GB in your case) that runs at 1.5v or below, operates at 1600mhz and does not have tall headspreaders/heatsinks.
If you're going with the AMD FX system, I'd recommend a slightly "stronger" power supply. (XFX makes really good ones) I'd still recommend you to go with the Intel system, as it will perform better in like 90% of all games. And yes, you get a lot more bang for the buck with an R9 280

I'm taking this as there will be very little gaming done on this build, so any gaming performance can take a back seat.
Every PC with a reasonable amount of ram, can pretty much do w/e in photoshop. After Effects uses the CPU for rendering the frames, in which case the FX-8320 would outperform the I5-4460, but not by landslide. Maybe its worth looking into an SSD(120gb, can go for around 60 euro's), it won't help you beat rendering times, but it will give the biggest usability improvement.
Now I'm rather confused what to go with... If it would not REALLY out preform the I5, then I'd rather go with the Intel due to the fact that it needs a more expensive power supply & an extra fan because the stock one's "too loud". I'll look into getting a cheap SSD , a friend has one for sale I'll see if I can get it for cheap. Kindest regards
i can get the Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB SSD for 52,- euro's [editline]20th January 2015[/editline] edited the build a little bit again better graphics card for small amount of extra cash =1&product[452185]=1&product[683532]=1&product[629110]=1&product[572302]=1&product[740487]=1&product[688144]=1&product[630966]=1"]with new card =1&product[452185]=1&product[683532]=1&product[629110]=1&product[678980]=1&product[572302]=1&product[740487]=1&product[688144]=1"]with old card
