Live in Washington State? Help Legalize Marijuana!

Alright, so Washington has the potential to legalize cannabis within the state simply by removing all criminal penalties. This is the same method used back when Alcohol was illegal, states slowly began to stop enforcing the penalties. Once that happens, the federal government gives in due to the fact that they don't want an unregulated market for a drug, and they can't force states to enforce the law.
They have just over 20,000 signatures so far, but need to get 241,000 by July. You can help!

Find how where you can sign by looking at this map. You can zoom in if you go to the link above.

I forgot to say, this is not a petition. Washington has an initiative system where if they get enough signatures, it gets onto the legit ballot in November where voters can vote on it at the polls on Election day.
This is a legally backed up initiative that had to go through legal filings to be registered as valid, now they just need the required signatures. Most of the more progressive states have this system. It's not just some bullshit online petition where they beg their officials.
A petition? Good luck. We've seen lots of these here in California.
Petitions never works.
Good luck to you, hope it gets legalized.
I once saw a petition in which Queen Victoria signed it six times.
Petitions never works.
Said 2 million people.
Even if a petition doesn't work directly who ever it's aimed at has a very clear representation of what people want regardless of whether they act on it. They may even change their mind with further pressure. It takes seconds and is very worth signing if you believe in the issue raised.
Petitions never works.
They do sometimes, as long as they're not those shitty online ones.

Good luck, but it's probably going to get shot down. And you're going to get a lot of dumbs from the hurr durr durgs r bad lul people on facepunch, so brace for that too.
Heh good luck
I've seen so many of these come and fail in just the last 2 years i've been living in WA.
what a bunch of fucking sad pandas
marijuana legalization is on the brink of becoming a serious issue and not just more than half of the populace wanting it and the politicians completely ignoring the possibility

not gonna happen
a very very large chunk of pro legalization people are not registered voters to begin with, and then many of them simply dont want their name on a paper that says they are pro weed for stupid paranoid reasons
Hemp would take out big paper companies etc, lobbyists etc.
so?
we arent talking about hemp and thats pretty much a moot point anyways since if it got on the ballot and people voted it in the lobbyists cant really do much besides cry
You're better off making a facebook group. These online petitions never work.

Will it just decriminilize it, or will it allow people to legally grow it too?
Will it just decriminilize it, or will it allow people to legally grow it too?
[editline]10th May 2011[/editline]
Hemp would take out big paper companies etc, lobbyists etc.
and would stop hippies from chaining themselves to trees and generally being a nuisance
Do it, it might help set a precedent so weed may be legalized.
and would stop hippies from chaining themselves to trees and generally being a nuisance
then hippies start chaining themselves to hemp plants

This sort of reasoning (I'm aware its not yours) is why I hate the world.
This sort of reasoning (I'm aware its not yours) is why I hate the world.
why? its true
if hemp was used widespread it would completely devastate most of its competition
it is better and more efficient for paper, clothing, textiles, and that sorta shit
Save our children from the unholy plant of doom from the infernal rivers.

Maybe I didn't word it properly. What I'm saying is, that the reason NOT to bring in hemp being that it would affect another industry is silly. The benefits of hemp outweigh the negative on the paper industry.
I know fuck all factually in terms of the paper or hemp industry, but after having seen the video about it (can't remember which one at the minute) it is silly not to make hemp a source of MANY things.

Last I checked most people on Facepunch were smart enough to realise Marijuana doesn't do that much harm.
(Yes I know smoking it can be bad for your lungs and that its general use may increase chances of psychosis or something, so please don't use this reply to start an argument anyone.)

I have psychosis and I smoke weed all the time. I find that if I stick with my medication, nothing bad happens.

hemp doesnt take years to regrow
hemp doesnt take years to regrow
i was being a smartass
Hemp takes 7-12 weeks to grow. I think we should stop using trees for paper and use hemp.
I would literally join a chain-thyself-to-tree protest with others if I had the opportunity.
