Ever had your credit card turned down at a fancy restaurant? President Obama can commiserate. Speaking to workers at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in Washington on Friday, he recalled a moment last month when, at the end of a dinner out in New York City, his plastic was declined. "I guess I don't use it enough, so they thought there was some fraud going on," he said. "Luckily, Michelle had hers. I was trying to explain to the waitress that I've really been paying my bills."
http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/17/politics/obama-credit-card/index.html?hpt=hp_t4
Expected some conservative making a statement
This news changed my life
Expected some conservative making a statement
"obummer hasn't been paying his bills to the american people"
How embarrassing.
America hasn't been paying its bills, that's why
Actually, the president doesn't really make as much money as you'd think. Hell, Congress folks make more than he does. Then again, they can give themselves raises.
Actually, the president doesn't really make as much money as you'd think. Hell, Congress folks make more than he does.
Actually, the president doesn't really make as much money as you'd think. Hell, Congress folks make more than he does.
I wonder what his expenses are in a typical day. I assume he doesn't pay for those private jet planes and limos and all that.
Probably a lot. Air Force One's annual expenses alone must be into the tens of millions. It's kind of necessary, though, when you think about the security that has to be maintained. They can't really drive the president around in a Yugo to save money on gas. I could easily see him going a long while without using his own credit card. There are people in Washington who go so long without driving their own car that they leave office and basically don't remember how to drive.
I wonder what his expenses are in a typical day. I assume he doesn't pay for those private jet planes and limos and all that.
Tax payers pay for his transportation due to the security involved
who cares
The fact that they were at a restaurant that charged so much that the credit card's fraud prevention kicked in really says something, doesn't it.
I'm imagining the poor waiter or waitress that had to tell him...
Actually, the president doesn't really make as much money as you'd think. Hell, Congress folks make more than he does. Then again, they can give themselves raises.
He makes much more money on book sales.
The fact that they were at a restaurant that charged so much that the credit card's fraud prevention kicked in really says something, doesn't it.
Mine kicked in when I ate at a wendys once. So it says credit cards are careful of fraud. Yeah!
I'm imagining the poor waiter or waitress that had to tell him...
Now I'm no red-blooded American but Obama has never struck me as being the most intimidating person.
Now I'm no red-blooded American but Obama has never struck me as being the most intimidating person.
Well, regardless of whoever it is, I can't imagine having to tell the President of your country that his card has been declined is something you wouldn't be a bit nervous about.
Well, regardless of whoever it is, I can't imagine having to tell the President of your country that his card has been declined is something you wouldn't be a bit nervous about.
imagine the president of the USA being anything other than totally cordial with a waitress
Imagine being the waiter that has to tell the president his card got declined. "Uhh... Mr... President... Do you have another card you can try?"
Then again, they [Congress] can give themselves raises.
Changes to their pay cannot take effect until after an election of Representatives, as per the 27th Amendment.
Changes to their pay cannot take effect until after an election of Representatives, as per the 27th Amendment.
But reelection is fairly easy for the majority of politicians so in practicality, the amendment is rather moot.
Expected some conservative making a statement
The New York Post nailed it "At last, Obama's spending stopped" :v:
Actually, the president doesn't really make as much money as you'd think. Hell, Congress folks make more than he does. Then again, they can give themselves raises.

Since 2001, the president has earned a $400,000 annual salary, along with a $50,000 annual expense account, a $100,000 nontaxable travel account, and $19,000 for entertainment.
Not to mention they live rent/payment free for 4 to 8 years, don't have to pay a single dime on groceries, don't have to pay any of the staff that work for them at the white house (cooks, maids, etc), don't have to pay rent on any of the presidential vacation homes, don't have to pay for gasoline or make car payments or pay taxes on their cars. In the course of his 8 year presidency Obama will have earned 3.2 million dollars. If he's smart he's invested most of that. Seems like a pretty good salary to me, even if you take into consideration those 4-8 years effectively age you 30 [editline]19th October 2014[/editline]
Well, regardless of whoever it is, I can't imagine having to tell the President of your country that his card has been declined is something you wouldn't be a bit nervous about.

imagine the president of the USA being anything other than totally cordial with a waitress
Imagine how fun it would be if it was Clinton "I did not have fraudulent relations with that credit card"
Imagine how fun it would be if it was Clinton "I did not have fraudulent relations with that credit card"
Imagine if it was Richard Nixon. "I'm not a crook"
Well, regardless of whoever it is, I can't imagine having to tell the President of your country that his card has been declined is something you wouldn't be a bit nervous about.
I can't imagine that I would tbh, I mean this is a person that is your equal, or at least is supposed to be. On top of that, Obama is a very friendly guy. On the other hand, if I were to meet Kim Jong-un, I'd be a little nervous...
I'm imagining the poor waiter or waitress that had to tell him...
"What are we going to do?" "Just get the Republican to do it. Hey Ted..."
How embarrassing.
It happens to the best of us. It's not something you can control, sometimes your credit card just decides not to work for whatever reason. I'm really disappointed this made the news.
