• GPU Overheats slowly

My GPU slowly increases in temperature from around 35 C to 100 C (at which point I shut the computer down). Any 3D application tends to accelerate this process. I have re-applied thermal paste twice. The first time, it fixed the issue for about two weeks before it occured again. In addition, I cannot seem to change the fan speed, no matter what program I use. "AMD Vision Control Engine" doesn't even have the slider, while Speedfan and RivaTuner also seem to have no effect. What could be causing the issue and how could I fix it?
Did you spread the thermal paste yourself or did you let the heatsink do that?
The first time, I spread the paste myself. The second time, I let the heat-sink do it. However, the thermal paste from the first time appeared intact (before I removed it for the new paste) and the re-application didn't change the temperature at all. Therefore, I'm pretty sure it's not the paste this time. More information - the temperature holds steady at 38 celsius before starting to climb up after about five minutes.
How is the airflow in the rest of your case? And its very weird that you cannot change your fanspeed. Does it even change itself while its overheating?
It varies slightly - from about 1,000 RPM to 1,300 RPM - but it doesn't seem to be consistently based on temperature.
Dus it spin up 100% on startup? [editline]23rd February 2013[/editline] This is probably a driver issue then. Since the fan is supposed to be noisy as fuck at 100c
How would I fix this? I already updated to the latest ATI drivers in an attempt to fix this. [editline]23rd February 2013[/editline] Ok, I watched my fan as the computer ran. When it started to heat up, the fan sped up momentarily, then went [I]very[/I] slow - like slow enough I could see the individual blades. I touched it with my hand, and it sped back up when I released it. Then it slowed down again. How should/can I fix this? [editline]23rd February 2013[/editline] Ok well... I may have fixed it by keeping the fan from moving for 10 seconds. Now everything seems to be normal? [editline]23rd February 2013[/editline] Never mind. It's still buggered up.
Does it spin up on startup.
