• Team Fortress 2 keeps crashing, used to work great

About a week ago, TF2 booted up great, I'd play for some time and get off. Now whenever I start up TF2, I can go to the main menu, try and join a server and then I crash saying "hl2.exe has stopped responding" Did an update fuck my shit up or what?
Do you have any mods or use anything like TF2DJ or HLSS? Did you go through the standard procedure of verifying integrity of the game or deleting the TF Folder in "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\%username%\team fortress 2" ? Any other error messages at all?
No mods whatsoever. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] Gonna try a reinstall

It usually is faster and essentially does the same thing but with replacing a single file if it is corrupted or out of date. It may also be that you have an odd cfg (configuration) file that is telling it to do something that your computer does not like. It may be a setting that is interfearing with it. So I would also move your config folder out of the TF folder.
delete the whole tf2 folder, it could have some unreadable files in it that it's trying to load. Then validate your tf2 cache and re-run the game.
Nope, fresh install didn't work.
Then it has to do with something on your computer or in your tf folder. It does not delete that folder on uninstall. it just deletes the GCFs.
