DALLAS, TX (KTLA) -- A mother of five who plead guilty to gluing her toddler's hands to a wall and beating her into a coma was sentenced to 99 years in prison Friday. Elizabeth Escalona, 23, pleaded guilty in July to injury to a child for brutally beating her 2-year old daughter over a potty training issue. Prosecutors say Escalona glued the little girl's hands to a wall and then repeatedly kicked the girl in the stomach and hit her with various objects, including a jug of milk, a belt and a shoe, police records show. The 2-year-old girl was later found unresponsive by her grandmother. Police records indicate glue and paint were stuck to the girl's palms, with skin torn away in places. The young girl had broken bones, brain swelling, swollen intestines and extensive bruising after the incident, according to the Dallas Morning News. The girl was in a coma for two days and in the hospital for a week. Dr. Amy Barton, a former pediatrician who treated the girl, testified at the sentencing hearing today. "This was one of the most shocking cases I have ever seen," she said, crying, according to WFAA. “I have no comment, and only God can judge me,” she said in July.
Served that bitch right
Good.
Jesus, this lady has issues. She deserves every second of her sentence.
Good riddance.
justice x1
Fuck she had 4 other kids? what happened to them?
I really hope the father will take good care of the girl (if the daughter still has one that is). This is just really sick.
Finland's justice system would have given her a few months to a year max, I bet. Way too lenient over here.
Served that bitch right
that's not a nice way to talk about the poor child.
99? not enough give her 100 years
Finland's justice system would have given her a few months to a year max, I bet. Way too lenient over here.
What is the "for life" sentence here in Finland anyway? 12 years or something like that? At least it was when I last read newspapers
Jesus, this lady has issues. She deserves every second of her sentence.
I can see it so clearly. The next few pages will be a shitstorm of people debating whether she should be rehabilitated or just leave her to rot. "She's so young, she must have daddy issues, rehabilitate her!" "DEATH SENTENCE!" I wonder if anyone will ever live to see the day when there is a intellectual conversation about such matters rather than just shouting from opposite ends of the spectrum.
Hey look, she's crying. Why dont we beat the fuck out of her. [sp]No, I wasn't seriously suggesting beating her, but as far as i recall, her "reason" to beat the toddler was because it was crying too much[/sp]
What is the "for life" sentence here in Finland anyway? 12 years or something like that? At least it was when I last read newspapers
I think it's like 12 years and then it goes back to court to see if the individual is fit for release and they're sent back to jail if the court finds them unfit for reintegration into society or something unless I'm thinking of another country
What is the "for life" sentence here in Finland anyway? 12 years or something like that? At least it was when I last read newspapers
Yeah, around that. But they can extend it if deemed necessary, like in Norway.
Oh look at them tears, it's the "My whole life is ruined" ones. Fully deserved though.
?
Toddlers + issues = fucking banshees
Um...why is her sentence longer than Sandusky's? Okay, he's liable to die in prison and they're both eligible for parole after 30 years, but he sexually abused 10 children multiple times and got a maximum sentence of sixty years, whereas she physically abused her child once and gets 99 years. I guess it's probably because they're being tried in different states, but that still seems out of whack to me. They've both done terrible things, no doubt, but still...

Sandusky's going to die in prison anyways. It wouldn't matter if they gave him 60 yrs or 99 yrs.
good, no 2 year old should have that happen to her over such a trivial thing
good, no 2 year old should have that happen to her over such a trivial thing
No one should have that happen to them ever.
I don't quite understand why they can't just give her a life sentence instead of 99 years. (I don't know much about the American justice system)
I don't quite understand why they can't just give her a life sentence instead of 99 years. (I don't know much about the American justice system)
I'm pretty sure life sentences in the UK are 99 years, or at least used to be. I mean, it effectively would be a life sentence anyway, and if anyone somehow serves the whole sentence and is still alive they're likely to be unable to do anything untoward. Not that I agree with giving her a life sentence though. A lengthy sentence, sure, but not life.
It's a shame Canada's life sentence is a maximum of 25 years.
