What is the main difference between AMD base builds (CPU + MB core) and Intel base builds? AMD usually come at more cheaper prices than Intel cores? How come?

That article could mean nothing, yet i would choose AMD because it's cheaper.
Also i hate Intel for ruining Project Offset and their shitty graphics accelerators.
AMD tends to have better price:performance, but with Intel you get what you pay for, better performance, but at a higher cost

I would suggest Intel for builds $750+
(in terms of gaming, that is. I heard x6 CPUs are pretty nice for rendering work on a budget)
Usually they are very competitive, but since Sandy Bridge is out and AMD Bulldozer is still a few months away Intel comes out ahead.

Depends, as a small i3-build for office usages can sometimes beat the price:performance of an AMD Athlon build using the mobo's inbuild graphics.
But really, it depends on the budget.
$450 you get an excellent AMD build, $455 you get little more performance with an Intel processor, $460 you get better with AMD, and so on.
Intel right now has the lead with sandy bridge, but AMD still has its "bang for the buck" at the moment along with Bulldozer coming out soon witch looks promising
AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus for $100 bucks: totally fucking satisfied.
Basically, AMD just has stronger value, while Intel is more performance oriented (and in trade, usually more expensive.)
Basically intel is like brand = price
while AMD peformance = price
Trying to say that you pay for the brand on intel (even though there cpus are good).

Except you don't. At all. The only reason you should ever go AMD is if you're building a sub-$750 computer or need a cheap hexacore for rendering.
Well, currently at least, lower end AMD is better because the newer intel sockets are just coming out and 775 isn't worth purchasing, and you have to have a pretty expensive build for Sandy Bridge. When the low end Sandy Bridge stuff comes out Intel will likely dominate for a little until Bulldozer, which I'm hoping has great value, too.
Well, now that Sandy Bridge is released, AMD builds are useful if you can't spend $200 on a processor.
However, the newest i3s also seem to perform extremely well in games despite dual core.
AMD tends to be much more forgiving when trying to find a motherboard that matches the desired CPU socket, without sacrificing essential stuff like multiple PCI-x16 slots.
