Hello,
So a couple days back I had some router problems and had a guy come and look at what's going on.
He made some changes to the router and left. After he left I noticed that the connectivity of my router is really really bad.
I have no clue what he did. It's not the speed that's affected but how I connect to the router is affected. I figured this was a channel
problem and I kept changing channels between numbers to see how it. Eventually I got to a number that worked, but made little difference
Eg: connecting my iPhone to my wireless takes a lot of time. Using an IM app (Such as FB messanger) take a while to connect.
It was fine from the start. Now it's really hard to connect to things and it's really getting difficult
Please help.
Thank you, Commandhat.

Also, I keep checking my router settings, and it says that the interference is Severe. What do I do? My wifi password is on.
Are you on a Mac by any chance?
If so you could try this?
The problem isn't on my Mac, (It is connected through Ethernet) but the problem is actually through all my iDevices. (Even my friends devices when they come over)
Reset your router through the web-config and then try again.
Method
1. Go to whatsmyip.org
2. Then, copy and paste your IP into your search bar in your browser
3. Log in (Usually your username and password will be admin, admin)
4. Then go to tools and then hit reboot

Again, It isn't a problem with windows it's a problem with the wirless stuff. It used to work fine before, until some guy from the router/isp company changed some settings. Is there any settings that help resolve this problem?
This sounds like a DHCP problem, but if it eventually connects it isn't that big of a problem is it?

It's frustrating, and it's horrible with messengers, when I'm trying to talk to friends it takes a while to connect. DHCP? Do you have a solution? Thanks.
What exact model router is it and what ISP are you using? This could be the result of several issues.
I have a D-Link DSL-2750U and my ISP is BSNL. People with the same ISP don't have any similar issues as I do, it's just that I can't stay connected for long or it fails to connect all together. Is there any settings suggested?
Have you tried resetting the router in its admin page to default settings?
If you already did and it still is acting like that, I would recommend to login into the routers admin page, find the DHCP area, make sure it is enabled and the rage is acceptable 30-200. Also check for your wireless channel in the Wireless section. Change the channel to the highest setting (For me its, 11 (2462 MHz)), that should improve your quality over wireless but may use more bandwidth.
For the wired connection you are talking about, check any ports you have, including wall ports and check the network cable to see if it is working properly. When connected through Ethernet, issues should usually go down. Once at work, we had an issue with the network cable itself and it was causing the exact same issue. It lost connection every 30 minutes then it came back on 10 minutes after the connection was lost. It was a simple wire switch that solved the issue. If anything, there might be some programs or something on your computer which is slowing down connectivity. Maybe even a virus or something. I recommend doing a virus scan to see if your computer is infected.
If the situation continues, contact your ISP and demand that the issues be fixed in a nice way. If they fail to fix it, get a new ISP.
Thats pretty much all from me.

I found a 'restore to default factory settings' in my settings page, but I don't know if it's going to delete EVERY setting, making it unusable.. (Sorry, I'm a noob in these things)
I tested various Channels. Channel 7 seems to be working fine for about 10 mins, before my router tells me it has severe interference.. All the other channels seem to have interference too, EVERY single channel does. And every time I change the channel, my wifi password seems to reset, making my router have no wireless password. (I put it back every time). My maximum channel is 9. I went to the DHCP area, it just shows the devices connected to it. Nothing else.
Wired connection is fine. I know this is a stupid question, but will changing the Sideband from lower to upper make any difference?
Thanks :)
Anyone?
The problem seems to be getting worse, with not changing anything at all. The router hardly responds to my phone or iPad. What do I do?
Do you live in a densely populated area?

Not really. I don't think that's relevant because a couple months back my net was working fine until someone from the D Link company went and changed some settings in the router due to a minor issue.
I still can't figure out what he did and it's been months.
Reset to factory settings, otherwise i'll need to do some research on your router.

Sorry being a noob but does factory settings complete reset everything? including my ability to connect to my isp?
Puts it back to first setup like it was out of the box. The only way this would cause problems with your ISP is if they have specific router settings in some advanced menus, which is rare
I did research on DLinks, and it says that my username and password will also reset. does this mean that I'll have to put all settings back again? meaning having the ability to connect to the ISP?

Re-configuring internet connection in router settings takes like 5 minutes, what's the problem with that?

Nothing, turns out it was a DNS error, fixed it mostly.
