Using 64bit Windows 7, everything I've tried (CPU-Z, System properties, Rainmeter Skin) shows a total of 4gb ram when I have 3x2gb installed. I recently got my pc back and I had to put it back together and everything works fine but 2gb of RAM seems to be missing. Any ideas?
Windows 7 64bit
ASUS Maximus III Formula
Core i5 750 @ 3ghz
Corsair Dominator 3x2gb 1600MHz DDR3
AMD ATi HD5850
Sorry wrong section, if a mod can, move this to TS
Does CPU-Z recognize each slot as containing a module?
Uh, just to make sure, but you are using the right slots, right?
Faulty stick? Wrong slot?
Also this should be in TS.
Ok, never mind, now its just Windows reading 4gb, CPU-Z tells me there's 6gb.

Could this be a result of me flashing my BIOS? I used ASUS Update utility to flash it automatically to the latest version.
I've got a very similar rig to yours, built it a year ago. I had the same problem, windows said I only had 4 gigs. I just reseated all of the ram sticks and it showed up propperly.
Tried it now, twice. Hasn't worked. Still getting 4gb in Windows and 6gb in CPU-Z.

Ah, fixed thanks guys. Asus' update tool downloads an older version of the BIOS, I had to download it manually and flash it, then it magically worked. Hurrah Asus.

Generally don't update the BIOS, unless it's really needed.
I only updated because I formatted everything, thought I might as well seeing as I was updating drivers etc.
