YAVORIV, Ukraine -- The United States provided its first delivery of non-lethal aid to government of Ukraine this weekend. The aid came in the form of approximately 300,000 meals-ready-to-eat (MREs), which were delivered to the Ukrainian military.
The meals were transported from the Defense Logistics Agency European Distribution Depot in Gemershiem, Germany. Ukrainian authorities received the shipment near the city of Krakovets, Ukraine, along Ukraine's western border with Poland, and provided the final delivery to the International Security and Peacekeeping Center March 28-29 in Yavoriv .
The cost of the meals, fuel and transportation was approximately $3 million, which was authorized by U.S. Defense Secretary’s Emergency and Extraordinary Expense (EEE) funds.
Stay away from the chicken and feta with tomatoes.
Better than nothing guys. Too bad it wasn't some McDonalds because I'm sure some chicken mcnuggets would raise morale.
Turns out they actually donated the remaining inventory of Vegetable Omelette.
Ukraine can't even afford to feed it's soldiers now or what?

It frees up funds. Armies are expensive and the Americans are the kings of logistics when it comes to their military.

Not so much anymore, unfortunately.
Stupid contractors, why can't we just put lower-grade recruits into transport?

And you end up shitting solid bricks after eating one.

Would probably stay preserved longer than an MRE as well. :v:

$3 the army doesn't have to spend on food is $3 they can spend on guns or anything else.

Aren't the US MRE's known for being shit though?

Hunger is the best cook.
They are practical and that's what counts, and as far as I have tried, they aren't bad.
I genuinely enjoy for instance some canned food tho so maybe that's just me.
I don't get the point of this.
Did they leave all their food in Crimea or something?

Its the fact that 300,000 meals represents a substantial amount of money. Money that the Ukrainian military can now use elsewhere, as opposed to allocation of foodstuffs. Its a way to provide support to Ukraine is all.

MREs aren't sooo bad. The german ones my father brought sometimes to show us have been pretty nice.
Just stay away from the cookies. They are solid as steel and you can easily use them as a replacement for firewood.
Chicken Breast, Spaghetti, and Beef Stew are the only ones worth eating.

Cheese Tortellini, Chili with Beans and Chicken Noodle stew are also good.

Makes it churn if anything else. I mean, it's bad enough that it's one of the worst damn omelettes I've ever seen, but it being veggie doesn't earn it any plus points. You'd probably be better off replacing it with a Spanish omelette, since that's still technically vegetarian and would probably be better than whatever the hell that is on the plate.
Do American MREs include Spanish omelette as an option?
Where can i get mre's?

Ebay usually. Some surplus stores occasionally stock them, as do one or two mom and pop camping stores. Though this applies to the US and in Poland there might be totally different rules on the distribution and sale of MREs.
great now why don't you deliver 300,000 rockets to russian soil
(that is if they try stepping into NATO territory, or the rest of Ukraine)

Right. I've always thought with things like MREs, foodstuffs costs just pocket change for the military.
but
but USA is the devil this cannot be
NATO should have just sent a few shipping containers full of either French RCIR's or German "Einmannpackung's". There was an article few months back describing eachother's field rations and which were the best
