Adolf Hitler's watercolours and drawings sold for £286,000 at a German auction at the weekend.
Saturday's controversial sale organised by Weidler Auctioneers of Nuremberg saw the German dictator's painting of Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria fetch the highest price at £71,000 (100,000) euros when it was sold to a Chinese buyer.
A still life of carnations, signed 'A Hitler', was sold for £52,000 (72,000 euros) at the Nuremberg event.
Most of the pictures are believed to have been painted between 1904 and 1922, reports Germany's Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ).
Strangely normal, isn't it?
Quite pretty
"oh i see you got a new painting, whos the painter?"
"hitler"
I'd buy this for the sake of having a painting made by one of the worst mass murderers of the world hanging on my wall.

I'd buy em solely for that situation
I didn't even know hitler was a painter...
I would buy them because they had a huge historic role.
i've always liked the look of his art

A failed painter really, he never made it into The academy of fine arts in Vienna.

A young artist and his dog set out to change the world. Story had some wild twists after that.
This is my favourite work of his

His perspective is shite tho. Look at the weird positioning on some of the windows in his urban paintings.
Looks like Hitler's dream came true; he's now a "famous" painter.
I really like the Neuschwanstein one. Like Moustache said the perspective may be a bit crap but it's only if you look closely. If nothing else it would definitely make a good conversation starter
My god Hitler was a genius. He knew his art was shit so he went and harmlessly made a name for himself and now it's selling like hotcakes.

Shame he isn't getting any of the revenue; what a cruel world for artists we live in
If there's one guarantee for painters is that your work won't be worth their potential max. value while you are still alive.
In this case it's only worth so much because someone famous painted it. The paintings themselves are pretty damn awful but the bragging rights of owning something Hitler himself made are worth much more to some people.

I think that's one of the reasons that makes his work kind of interesting. You've got to start somewhere, if anything.
I don't know of any other paintings like this, where it's not quite right but is still widely known just because the person that created it was evil. I'm unaware of a person that paints like this that didn't have any ill intentions later on, his work is pretty unique regardless of who he turned out to be.

Important to note:

To be completely honest, that dog looks like a Jewish caricature.
I mean, look at it! It has the shifty, beady eyes, the huge nose and even an ugly beard.

Gee. If he was so bad maybe he should have gone to art school.

To think if they let him in the entirety of WW2 may have been avoided
As much as you can say Hitler was a failed painter, he did manage the paint the map of Europe all grey.

Well, the painting probably did ruin his artistic career.
I bet he's looking down, or up depending on how you look at it, and thinking
"yea nigga"
"I'm sorry Herr Hitler, I just don't think your work is up to scratch to be allowed in."
"Hmm, so if I can't make people buy my paintings because of my skill..."

This might sound fucked up but Inthink the world is better off with WWII having happened than we would have been if it never happened.
