Since the installment of AFRICOM or the United States African Command in 2007 there has been an increased military presence in areas of Africa. Some of the nations include Uganda, Libya and as U.S. officials announced less than a month ago, Mali by next year. As AntiWar.com reports, “But what they don’t have compared to, say, CENTCOM, is an established collection of nations with US troops stations waiting for wars to break out.” However, the thought of numerous nations being occupied in Africa is about to transform. The AssociatedPress has detailed a plan by the Army to start deploying small units into “as many as 35 African nations”, which is being justified as a part of training against extremists. The AP noted, “The sharper focus on Africa by the U.S. comes against a backdrop of widespread insurgent violence across North Africa, and as the African Union and other nations discuss military intervention in northern Mali.” Gen. David Rodriguez, head of the U.S. Army Forces Command told the AP, “If they want them for (military) operations, the brigade is our first sourcing solution because they’re prepared”. While the mainstream media remains empty-gutted about the upcoming “fiscal cliff”, it seems the military, U.S. officials and defense contractors are rather lax about the thought of an economic collapse; even though these operations will probably cost the American public tens of millions, it’s a risk worth taking when a profit is being received on the other end.
Apparently domestic issues are not a concern of Obama's. America needs to stop fucking policing the world and focus on our own issues.
HAH no
Like my history teacher said, kids didn't know where or what iraq was until we invaded it. Geography teachers are going to have a field day.
It might be me, but I'm getting a cold war vibe of dismantling regimes here.
#KONY2013?
Like my history teacher said, kids didn't know where or what iraq was until we invaded it. Geograohy teachers are going to have a field day.
Most kids know the geography of Africa. At least I did by grade six.
Key word here is seeking. How many of those unnamed African countries are going to want US troops on their soil? A lot of African countries are corrupt shitholes and giving the US the ability to perform regime change isn't going to sit well in my opinion.

Lebanon didn't want us. Somalia didn't want us. Etc etc. Look how that went.
Most kids know the geography of Africa. At least I did by grade six.
A lot of people Africa is one gigantic state or however you want to call it.
A lot of people Africa is one gigantic state or however you want to call it.
It's a continent. Nowhere near what the EU is even.
It's a continent. Nowhere near what the EU is even.
It is Earth's future resource farm.

You remember what happened before we got there? Yeah...

In a short story I wrote a little while back, I futuristically determined that the US would migrate to Africa. Strange that this is happening now.
I do have to say, there really are some countries in Africa that could use some help.
The US wants the minerals and other raw resources in Africa, it's only expected that we'd go for this rich place populated with poor, underfed people (for the most part) as easy pickings.
Hahaha isnt that just like him. Watch out everbody americas going home. Obamas home.....
Like my history teacher said, kids didn't know where or what iraq was until we invaded it. Geography teachers are going to have a field day.
What if America's military imperialism is just a ploy to raise the nations geography grades?
Key word here is seeking. How many of those unnamed African countries are going to want US troops on their soil? Though they may be an exception to the rule, Ethiopia is a predominantly Christian country engaged in ongoing conflicts against Islamic insurgents in Somalia, so it's no surprise that they'd find an ally in the US.
It's not too surprising, geopolitically. China has been investing into African nations for quite a while. To keep up with our friendly rivalry, the US will eventually have to go in as well. Let's hope with these military bases, some increased commerce between the African states and the US can get started.
Actually, this is most likely because as global warming continues to grow, Africa stands to become one of the most destabilized continents on the planet. Its in our best interest to make sure that Africa continues to stabilize instead spiral back down into its former even worse hell hole state after Decolonization.

How many troops are we talking anyway? A team? A battalion? A base? A whole army?
How many troops are we talking anyway? A team? A battalion? A base? A whole army?
Well if it's a fresh nation American troops have never gone before, I would expect a base to house them in the least.
How does global warming destabilize an entire continent like that?
The Sahara desert is already expanding. One of the biggest issues that caused the Arab spring was rising food prices from poor harvests that can be attributed to poor environmental conditions. Let me go find the study that states all this by former US Generals. The US Military is quite pragmatic when it comes to threats to national security and they see Global Warming as one of the biggest.
Somalia was a hellhole that there was no escaping/fixing, I don't know why we showed up at all.
We showed up to stop local warlords from stealing UN food aid. By and large we were successful until we bombed a meeting of warlords. We were still doing fine, but then black hawk down happened, and I'm sure you got it from there.
