I believe the inflation on phones is being caused by companies like Apple releasing similar models to their previous ones at such high prices; being greedy and lazy. I mean take the itablet for example, they just added a camera onto it along with a better processor and charged the same price as the previous model with the same issues like not being able to multi-task.

An explanation for anyone who doesn't see the problem with his post;
This news item is basically saying that outdated items for measuring the CPI & RPI have been removed and that smartphones amongst other more relevant products have been added. This is due to the weighting and price elasticity of each product being different and an overall average provides more accurate data. E.g. this isn't specifically about apple or iPhones and the above poster is a moron for thinking it is.
I don't understand economics in the slightest.
Is this a bad thing?

It means that smart phone apps are becoming big enough business to calculate inflation with.

Depends if you want inflation or not. But it' basically means our measurements of inflation such as CPI will be more accurate to the inflation 'experienced' by every day people.

Technically, you do care for justifying your actions.
in recent news, tablets are now in inflation.

Uh, you don't understand inflation do you.
Only the money supply is 'in inflation'. Physical objects are used to represent the value of money over time and in comparison to other countries.

This has fuck all to do with the actual product. They could use ANYTHING that is purchased by people.
It is simply used to monitor inflation. My understanding of this basket thing is basically the same things are "purchased" every so often and the prices compared to calculate what the inflation rate it.
