Anyone who's read World War Z can say that it's a great book. What makes it great isn't the zombies, but the stories told and the personal feelings behind them. The book depicts many nationalities and cultures facing the undead, not just us Americans.
It's also common knowledge that a movie is being made, and the person behind the script was recently booted off because the script he wrote wasn't close enough to the book, and now a new guy is working on it.
So here's my list of what the movie should have so it doesn't suck as much as the Day of the Dead remake.
No fast zombies.
You might have heard this from me on the last 2 threads I made, but I'll re-iterate it here: fast zombies, or brain-damaged vampires, were not in World War Z, and if they include it in the movie I will actually cry. Yes, cry. And anyway the ghouls in WWZ were always described as 'slouching', and I always pictured that as not fast, but not staggeringly slow either (like Shaun of the Dead), more sort of like an exaggerated limp.
Make it seem global.
A lot of zombie movies and video games are set in the United States. That's all fine and dandy, but World War Z was a world war. A multinational cast will be needed to even begin to make it seem worldwide: South Africans, Chinese, Americans, Brits, Germans, Frenchmen, Russians, Japanese, and a whole bunch of others are represented in the book.
Different themes.
This is a big one. Remember the interview that talks about that guy who had a celebrity-infested fortress on Long Island? Have that segment as a reality show. Have the CIA parts as like the Bourne movies. Have the Chinese admiral part as some kinda techno-thriller, the Great Panic parts as one of those apocalypse movies, where the audience will truly believe it's the end of the world. Have the Battle of Yonkers be on the scale of Saving Private Ryan or some other epic war movie.
More scary zombies.
The zombies in Shaun of the Dead looked more like pale people than anything else. Sure, that's what zombies originally look like, but have them look more scary like this. Rotting, half-eaten monsters, not...people dressed in cheap makeup.
No Tom Cruise.
Except maybe as one of the first people who gets surrounded and mauled by a horde of undead.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
ok
[editline]04:52PM[/editline]
no stupid weeaboo guns
no desert eagle
no portable miniguns
no stupid 50. caliber sniper rifles

Holy fuck. I would totally see this.
If the author isn't pleased with the script, the movie won't be made. I don't think this will be a problem.
Seems like to have all the stuff you'd want it'd have to be a damn long film.
Not like three-hour epics are all that rare as it is.

Explain weeaboo guns
Explain weeaboo guns
guns that are stupid and overused in popular culture that wouldn't make sense in a real life situation.
Explain weeaboo guns
Most likely anything Bean-O classes as weeaboo.
DNR... :downs:
how about there are no guns? or someone just have a few bullets but keeps them till the end of the movie or something.
movie is called World War Boring.
An abscence of Micheal Bay.

Can you give an example of one ? For some reason it's hard for me to imagine a gun that wouldnt make sense in a zombie invasion

I understand why doesnt the portable minigun make sense, but why the hell wouldnt you take the rest of that ? I dont think you would have much choice
the mexican military will be so damn sleepy too and may be zombfied
I understand why doesnt the portable minigun make sense, but why the hell wouldnt you take the rest of that ? I dont think you would have much choice
Dessert Eagles - far too powerful, recoil will blow your arm off
Katanas - Getting close to zombies is not a good idea whatever weapon you are using

Ok.
Practically no civilians (or military, for that matter) have a Desert Eagle. They are stupid, huge, and overpowered.
50 Caliber sniper rifles (aka the Berrett) is also a very rare weapon that hardly and civilians would have.
My point being, have the survivors in the film have believable weapons, like a Glock, Colt 1911, .44 revolvers, hunting rifles, hunting shotguns, police swat/riot weapons (AR-15s, MP5, bolt action sniper rifle of some type), maybe some military weapons like the M4 or M16A2 along with the M14 and a military sniper rifle. shit like that. Not some stupid over the top bullshit that wouldn't make any sense.

Good point
Needs more Megan Fox.
Doesn't some guy kill a zombie with a Desert Eagle early on in the book?
Needs more Megan Fox.
No, the world needs less of Megan Fox.

Desert Eagle's aren't really essential to the storyline of a book or movie.

Yea, that Brazilian surgeon.

desert eagle is op nerf now valve
/dumb
Like the OP said, I think WWZ should have people of all nationalities, and locations all over the world. I haven't read the book (I'm going to though) but there should be several main story arcs of people in separate countries, but is interspersed with "news reel" (not exactly, but sort of) footage of zombies fighting people in many, many different locations. Like in the desert, or jungles, or arctic tundra, or oil rigs, etc.
