The United States, Russia and Jordan have reached a ceasefire and "de-escalation agreement" in southwestern Syria, one of the combat zones in a six-year-old civil war, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Friday.
The ceasefire will go into effect on Sunday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Jordan's Petra news agency said.
Tillerson announced the deal after a meeting in the German city of Hamburg between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.[/quote]

exactly where the war wasn't happening. everybody has pretty much agreed southern syria belongs to the syrian government, its northern syria thats always been the area of contention between sectarian, non government forces and government forces.
Any kind of de-escalation is good!
Good, this proxy war is pointless.

What alternative is there at this point?

SDF in the north but other than that, nobody trustworthy.

I'd rather Assad that another Islamist regime in the Middle East. Fuck Al-Nursa, Jiwa, and all the other shitheads.

I don't understand this. So anything is still game until then? "Oh we have until Sunday, let's blow some shit up!" I mean this more of a joke but still semi serious. I just think that's a funny sentence. You'd think the orders would have been distributed within hours

the orders would be distributed within hours so everyone knows the ceasefire goes into effect on sunday.
same reason you don't announce a party 5 minutes before having it.

i mean i see where you are coming from, but if there was communication issues, some people would be acknowledging it is in effect before others. leaving it 2 days gives it time to be cemented.

Logistically the SDF would have a hard time winning mainly due to opposition from Russia (Supports Ba'athist regime) and Turkey (Supports Islamist). And the Trump administration doesn't seem to care much for democracy, so...
But yeah the SDF is sadly the only option, they are doing great in the north but that won't last.
