I want to start making music in the style of Wolfgang Gartner, Deadmau5 and Skrillex, but I have no idea how to start.
What do I need? In terms of playing live, I.E mixers, MIDI Controllers, synths.
I'm on a shit-tight budget, probably less than AUD$200 for each.
You mean for actually making tunes or just DJing live?
If you're making tunes, just download some demos for programs like Reason, Cubase, Ableton etc. See which one you feel most comfortable working in to start with, not much point in spending money on tons of expensive hardware if you're only just starting out.
If you're DJing live, again there's loads of different options. I wouldn't recommend getting a pair of turntables, hardly anyone DJs with actual vinyl nowadays, and you need to buy tons of records and build up a collection before you can even think about doing a full vinyl set. Cheapest option would probably be to get a copy of a program like Traktor along with a Behringer BCD3000 or something similar (quite cheap if you get them second hand)
I tried decks, decided they were shit and ditched 'em.
And sorry for being vague, I meant playing live, I already have Qbase (I think) and FL Studio.

Huh, I might just do with that Behringer, because it turns out my dad already has a MIDI keyboard.
He was pretty big on the sort of music, when it came out, and I don't think he stopped getting licenses for all of the programs.
