I, for one, think Brave Murder Day is their best album, Last Fair Deal Gone Down is their worst, and the new album is very awesome.
Brave Murder Day is awesome. Mikael Åkerfeldt on vocals! Though TGCD is my favorite. Saw these guys opening for Porcupine Tree about a week ago. They were awesome but the sound kind of sucked :(
I like Brave Murder Day. I should check out everything else they did that was Death/Doom.

Katatonia is amazing.
If you are a fan of Katatonia you should check out October Tide. It was a side project of Jonas and Fredrik and is the last of their style before they changed it with Discourage Ones.
Also check out Diabolical Masquerade, an avant-garde black metal band which was a one man side project by Blakheim with some assistance from Dan Swano.
All of them are completely awesome.
I like some Katatonia songs.
July is my favorite, with Evidence and Deliberation tied for second.
Other Katatonia songs I haven't really found a liking to. I didn't know they released a new album, though.
