• Chemotherapy and magic mushrooms

For the past 2 months I have been going to chemotherapy sessions to treat my hodgkins lymphoma, for a total of 4 treatments. Recently my friend got some philocybin mushrooms and offered to do them with me to which I wasn't too sure about as chemo is very hard on the body and the immune system (enough that I have to avoid certain foods and places to avoid illness). What i'd like to know is will the mushrooms in anyway affect to chemotherapy, or react with the chemotherapy. I'd really enjoy doing these but not at the risk of my health. Here's a list of the chemo drugs i'm on if it makes any difference: Adriamycin Bleomycin Vinblastine Dacarbazine
Check this out man, they're actually testing to see if psilocybin helps during chemo. While I can't speak for any of the chemical reactions with your medication, I would suggest following one of the many guides on Shroomery for how to make tea, I would think that it would be much safer with your compromised immune system than ingesting raw mushrooms. To be honest I'm not sure if there is anyone on this forum that can give you a definitive answer? I don't know that we have any resident mycologists or if anyone here is extremely involved with psylocybin. I think that your best bet would be to look for advice on the Shroomery forums, make a thread there explaining your situation. There are people on that board that have more experience (both with the biology of mushrooms and with the chemistry of the drug) than anyone in this subforum, to my knowledge at least.
You can also ask a doctor, you have confidentiality, and you don't even have to say you are taking them. Just ask what he would think the risks are. [editline]17th May 2014[/editline] Could probably get an appointment to get a specialist's opinion as well.
I was always under the impression that with a weaker immune system you stay away from any fungis because you could be more susceptible to a fungal infection/any infection pry. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I can give you a definitive answer. No.
