Desktop Window manager not running, can't enable it to run ever. also some problems that might be re

No matter what i do DWM will not activate at all.

i can't use aero settings on this computer at all or anything.

i used the microsoft fixer thing, that didn't work

i used the google results and edited minor registry stuff, that didn't work.

nothing i do enables the program and lets me use aero stuff.

i also think it effects how programs display on my computer too ([URL="http://i.imgur.com/sCpGp.png"]the ATI catalyst Control panel won't load anything but the massive ATI Advertisement[/URL], [URL="http://i.imgur.com/WPfIm.png"]Tribes ascend launcher looks like a mutalited mess on here[/URL], etc.)

Update windows, update video drivers, scan for viruses and what microsoft fixer did you use? You can enter a command into the command prompt to scan for any broken system files and fix them. It's "sfc /scannow" without quotation marks

on their help page involving this, there's a program they have that tries to fix the problem.

ill try the sfc command thing now.

i un-installed and re-installed the graphics drivers and everything.

Have you tried a full driver sweep or did you uninstall through the AMD installer?

Like do you have pro or basic or whatever.

I had the same problem but really can not remember how did I fix it.

Disable it and then enable it? Or try to install a custom theme or something? Mine fucked up when I re-enabled one of the custom themes I had and the Aero didn't turn on later. Use the default presets like Aero, No-aero but not classic and classic? And then go to aero and see if it will work.

Also check if you have your power settings at Balanced / High performance. It might take it down if it is on a battery saver or low perf. whatever.

completely uninstalled using the amd installer and re-installed it.

but i originally had a Nvidia Graphics card on this computer when it began, it's been non-aero since.

It's on high performance and i tried switching to a aero theme but it doesn't change it.
