Since Apple can't build its own bumpers fast enough, it will give you a few options and let you decide, then send it your way for free as long as you purchased the phone before September 30th. Not good enough for you? Well, if you already bought a bumper from Apple you'll get a refund, and you can also return your phone for a full refund within 30 days as long as it's unharmed. Developing...
Damn
Well that fixes it, case closed.
I can't believe it took them this long to actively respond.
well it doesn't change the fact that it's STILL a piece of shit
totally a fix guys
What the fuck, why don't they fix the problem?
A global recall isn't cheap, and apple are all about cheap.
I bet it has a little knife on it so you can't cover the antenna.
what pisses me off is that it doesn't seem that they didnt do extensive testing before releasing the phone?
They're just pulling shit out of their ass because they can't fix the phone.
It's nice that they don't admit to the iPhone 4 having a problem. They say that it's a "smartphone" problem. Here's a free case, deal with it.
We made a really expensive shit phone and are finally admitting it, here's a free 10$ case
That's Apple for ya :haw:

This solution comes at the end of 22 days of Apple engineers "working their butts off," according to Steve, with "physics" ultimately being pinned as the main culprit. Apple claims you can replicate the left-handed "death grip" bar-dropping problem on the BlackBerry Bold 9700, HTC Droid Eris, and Samsung Omnia II, and that "phones aren't perfect." Steve also claims that only 0.55% of people who bought the iPhone 4 have called into AppleCare to complain about the antenna, and the phone has a 1.7% return rate at AT&T, compared to 6% with the 3GS, though he would cop to a slight increase in dropped calls over the iPhone 3GS. For this Steve has what he confesses to be a pet theory: that 3GS users were using the case they had from the 3G, and therefore weren't met with the horrible reality of a naked, call dropping handset. Hence the free case solution, which will probably satisfy some, infuriate others, and never even blip onto the radar of many of the massive horde of consumers that's devoured this product in unprecedented numbers.
ITT people expect a company to loose hundreds of millions recalling phones and redesigning an antenna.
what pisses me off is that it doesn't seem that they didnt do extensive testing before releasing the phone?
they do, they even talked about it in their press conference today. they were using cases in real world tests though (to disguise them) which is probably why they didn't notice the problem. [editline]07:28PM[/editline] here's their test chamber
What the fuck are all the spikes for?
What the fuck are all the spikes for?
That's to remind you what will happen if you lose a prototype.

"Our phone does not have a problem!" Followed by: "Every smartphone has this problem!"
iPhone 4? Where'd the 3G and 2G go??
That's to remind you what will happen if you lose a prototype.

ITT people expect a company to loose hundreds of millions recalling phones and redesigning an antenna.
It's their job to produce quality products. They obviously did not.

Yeah every device has issues. But they don't go around blaming others all the damn time. Steve Jobs has to grow the fuck up, and grab a new shirt. he had to be wearing that thing for the last 20 years.
"Our phone does not have a problem!" Followed by: "Every smartphone has this problem!"
Indeed, makes it seem like they are scared about their reputation so they are trying to make the retarded iPhone users (a lot of them) think that all smartphones have the problem in order to maintain their customer base.
I love these chambers, they feel all warm and spacious.
apple have a video about their testing chambers, it's pretty interesting http://www.apple.com/antenna/testing-lab.html
So I take it they're supposed to have redesigned iphones by September 30th.. As much as this is an embarrassment for Apple, I think they responded pretty quickly if you compare them to everyone else.
As smug and hypocritical their statements were, they finally did something for it that actually helped it in some way. Kudos to Apple, sort of.
It's their job to produce quality products. They obviously did not.
I bet you're one of the people that have no interest in buying one but complain anyway, because hey, it's Apple.
Oh, thanks for the ugly plastic piece of shit I could have gotten for about £0.50 anyway that doesn't do anything in the slightest to fix the problem, and in fact probably makes it worse. Appreciated :downs:
