Next are Denmark, Sweden and the UK. In a BBC interview, Hossein Askari, Professor of International Business and International Affairs at George Washington University said a study by himself and colleague Dr Scheherazde S Rehman, also rates Israel (27) as being more compliant with the ideals of the Koran than any predominantly Muslim country. Not a single majority Muslim country made the top 25 and no Arab country is in the top 50. He said that when their ‘Islamicity index’ was applied only Malaysia (33) and Kuwait (42) featured in its top 50 countries, compared to the US at 15, as is the Netherlands, while France is at 17. Saudi Arabia rated 91st, with Qatar at 111st. In doing the study they applied the ideals of Islam in the areas of a society’s economic achievements, governance, human and political rights, and international relations, he said. On that index “Muslim countries do very badly,” he said and accused them of using religion as an instrument of power. Last Novembe Prof Askari said that “we must emphasize that many countries that profess Islam and are called Islamic are unjust, corrupt, and underdeveloped and are in fact not ‘Islamic’ by any stretch of the imagination.”
So basically, because some people STILL won't bother to read the article NOR the quote here, here's TL:DR; SMARTY PANTS GUY WHO ACTUALLY RESEARCHES ISLAM AND IT'S SOCIAL POLICIES GOES AND COMPARES WHICH COUNTRIES FULFILL THEM BETTER AND WHICH WORSE SURPRISE SURPRISE, THE REAL "ISLAM IDEA OF LIFE" IS PLAIN AND SIMPLE "EVERYONE DOES FAIR AND WELL" CURRENT MUSLIM COUNTRIES CONFIRMED AS SHIT BASED ON METRICS OF ISLAMIC VALUES
apparently Catholicism is similar to islam now
christianity and islam have very close ties in teachings and history and even share some characters in their teachings
Finally, we're first for something.
apparently Catholicism is similar to islam now
you didn't bother to read AS LITTLE AS THE GODDAMN TITLE
On that index “Muslim countries do very badly,” he said and accused them of using religion as an instrument of power.
Welcome to the real world, where religion and ethics only support each other when the people practicing the religion feel like it!

No shit, Islamists are as close to Islam as Westboro is close to Christianity.
No shit, Islamists are as close to Islam as Westboro is close to Christianity.
an important distinction must be made. muslim: follower of islam islamist: muslim believing in the dominance of islam in the social, political, and personal order; often a muslim theocrat.

Wish I had you in all of those threads about politics. Some of this shit I -want- to understand but it just never clicks. Whats weird is that doesn't everyone kind of see that genre of religion to be a bit... Out of whack?
an important distinction must be made. muslim: follower of islam islamist: muslim believing in the dominance of islam in the social, political, and personal order; often a muslim theocrat.
Another important point to be made is that Islam isn't a singular monolithic unity any more than any other religious denomination also sharia isn't a single set of laws that all muslims must follow and it has different schools of thought and competing ideas just as there are in every other legal tradition
He should do the same with Christianity.
He should do the same with Christianity.
Uh. First world nations are some of the most charitable.
This guy doesn't read the Quran the same way most people do, the way most Imams do even. To deviate from the literal aspects in the Quran is near sacrilegious and is only acceptable in very specific and contradictory cases. He interpreted the Quran to be a good book with good rules (even to western standards - which is perplexing) – the goal was then to see which countries follow the interpreted system the closest. He used a metric called “Islamicity.” But the catch is, that this interpretation is so far removed from the Qurans teachings that the more Islamic a country is, the less Islamicity it has. The idea that this man knows his shit, is silly, as evidenced by his concept of Islamicity being so distant to the actual contents of the Quran and the cultures built up around it.
Greenland is last :v:
There's a car bomb joke in here somewhere... but I just don't want to be the one to make it.
