IMAX - Is it worth it?

I was thinking of seeing Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time in the IMAX cinema today but was wondering is it worth paying the extra £ for IMAX?

Star Trek (the latest one of course) was amazing in IMAX. (Except the part where they kiss, I could see spit between their mouths :/)

But it depends on the film, Alice In Wonderland wasn't very good, the 3D was all blurry where I watched it. (Same cinema though.)

Oh but if you've never been it's worth going at least once, the screen is like 3 double decker buses high, if you look straight on it's literally all you can see

I went to see Avatar on IMAX, that was particularly worth paying extra to see, I'd still say it'd be worth it to see Prince Of Persia on it. The screen just dwarfs any normal cinema screen, and like Aero said, it's worth going at least once to try it.

For a movie like Sands of Time, I would say go for it, since the story is fluff and the visuals basically make the movie.

What is so special about IMAX? I remember we had one in Norway ten years ago, but it was closed. All our cinemas support 3D now, I just don't get what's so special about IMAX.

IMAX has a far larger screen, and has a better sound system as well I do believe.

IMAX =/= 3D, Necessarily.

Imax is just a REALLY big screen and very high quality film, compared to normal theaters.

I hate people who bitch about IMAX, if you don't like it, that's fine leave it be.

But don't fuck up the advancement of technology for everyone else, sure we have to wear glasses at the moment, but no doubt that will change.

To OP, yeah I'd say it's worth the extra few bucks.

Depends on how it's filmed. Most films aren't actually filmed for IMAX.

The Dark Knight however, was. and it's definitely an experience.

I saw spider-man 3 with IMAX, it was great, the fight scenes just don't look right without it. It was so much more immersive with IMAX.

prince of persia is a completely terrible film, so [I]that[/I] would be a waste of the extra cost of IMAX, but IMAX is still pretty boss anyway

My city is getting an IMAX built onto an existing theater, opening in December. Can't wait to start seeing films there.
