Paralyzed F1 Racer Michael Schumacher's wife sells off £25m jet and holiday pad as "he won't use the
Michael Schumacher's wife has sold his £25m jet and holiday home after reportedly accepting that the racing driver will never fully recover.
The Formula One legend was left disabled with devastating brain injuries following a ski accident in December 2013. Insiders say there has been little progress in his rehabilitation.
Schumacher's wife, Corinna, has been running his half-a-billion pound business empire ever since.
She decided to sell his private jet for £25m when she realised he would never fly in it again and sold off their holiday home in Norway earlier this year knowing he would never vacation there again, according to German magazine Bunte.
Corinna is also considering selling the family's chalet in Meribel in France - scene of the catastrophic ski accident.
Doctors say there has been little change in the 47-year-old's condition and he is still immobile and unable to speak.
His mansion home in Switzerland has been specially adapted for him, with a team of doctors, nurses and technicians working around the clock.

The fuck.
He can fly disabled and what what the holiday home too?. Has she gone bonkers?
Without him, the family's income will soon become non-existent. Jets and expensive holiday homes are a money sink that wouldn't be wise to keep in the long term.
He's not just physically disabled. He's suffered severe brain damage as well, so on top of being basically stuck in his house, I believe he is minimally aware. The jet and holiday home are of minimal use to him in his current state.
I was really hoping his condition would improve. It's a fucking shame.
The fuck.

Uh what? If his condition doesnt appear to be getting better I'd have done the same thing.
I can only imagine how much it costs to maintain a private jet and and all the property they have, and if no one is using them then why would I ever keep them around?
I know that it doesn't actually represent what he ACTUALLY but he's got a fuck ton of cash. Just because his wife said "he won't ever use them again" doesn't actually mean that his income is non-existent. He can still do PR gigs and still earn money.
Also it is a brain injury yes but that hasn't stopped people in the past.
I just really question the motive.
Why do you assume he's capable of even that? Do you know how serious his brain damage is? From what I've read he can't move, he cannot talk, he cannot communicate at all, and he's not recovering. I don't mean to be insensitive, but the man is a vegetable. His life is over. How could he possibly do anything to earn money outside of people managing his finances and assets?

I think I'd rather die :(

It doesn't really matter if he is worth that much. Jets cost an insane amount of money to maintain, and there just isn't really any reason to keep it around.

Remind me to never fly Air New Zealand
wifey selling off his properties before leaving him for another man, most likely

Or she is getting her ducks in a row to ensure that she has adequate funds to pay for the expensive, 24/7 in home care for the rest of her husband's life?

Did you not read the article? He is immobile and cannot speak. Not too far from being a vegetable.
He's not gonna be flying in a private jet or vacationing in Norway or France any time soon.

Obviously you did not read the article.
He is immobile and cannot speak, not only that there has been little to no rehabilitation progress.
wifey selling off his properties before leaving him for another man, most likely
The money from the sale is as much his as hers, and money is far more use to a disabled person than jets and houses in Norway.
wifey selling off his properties before leaving him for another man, most likely
How cynical can you get really?
Aww, I loved him playing the Stig. Sucks to see him in this condition.
Without him, the family's income will soon become non-existent. Jets and expensive holiday homes are a money sink that wouldn't be wise to keep in the long term.
If his wife invests every penny of that $38.5m, his family will never have to work a day in their life.
She is going about the matter in the correct way. She has a family to raise. It's been over a year since the accident, she knows the reality of the outcome he's in. She's been left with no alternative.

Over a year? Its barely 5 months since 20s of December 2014.
edit: time is moving fast indeed :/

I'm guessing the constant high end private medical care is rather taxing on even a large war chest. It is likely that these are being sold in order for the cash to be reinvested into stuff that has a decent return.
wifey selling off his properties before leaving him for another man, most likely
That accusation is based on absolutely nothing.
Some of you should read the short piece of text in the OP.
Schumacher's wife, Corinna, has been running his half-a-billion pound business empire ever since.
If she wanted to run away she could do it without selling a jet or some houses. Stop being so cynical...
Man that sucks. Shame I never got to see him action (live at least) since I started following F1 less than a year ago.
To lighten the mood though, his son is doing well http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/motorsport/32460916

I went on some sort of Ferrari sponsored corporate event through my dad's employer to the 2006 Silverstone GP and got to quickly meet him and Massa, I was 9 / nearly 10 at the time and karting myself so it was pretty fucking sweet to meet people that were such a big influence on me

What the fuck, 2013? The time flow.... fuck
He can still do PR gigs and still earn money.
Haha what? Wheel his body out on a stretcher for views or something?
Wonder if they'll give him another method of speaking? If he's just paralysed due to brain damage, that hopefully means he won't get any worse, so they could use whatever part of his body he can still move (eyes?) to allow him to talk in the same way that they do for people with MND or locked-in syndrome.

Yeah, you obviously know the Schumachers financial situation much better than the family itself.

If she really wanted that, she would have done earlier, not now, after 25 years of marriage, kids, and being 46 years old.
Also it is a brain injury yes but that hasn't stopped people in the past.
What the fuck are you on about
If a brain injury is bad enough it'll stop a person. If it isn't - it won't.
His seems to be bad enough, although then again I am not his personal neurologist.
That must fucking suck for his wife and family.
