http://www.medicaldaily.com/just-tip-galactic-cap-newly-invented-condom-may-be-future-contraception-285282
When it comes to safe sex, there is a much-needed barrier that stands in the way between you and your partner — the condom — also known as the “necessary evil.” Despite its 98 percent effective rate at preventing unwanted pregnancy and reducing the risk of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) when used correctly, condoms are prone to slipping, breaking, and decreasing sexual sensitivity during love-making sessions. But the future of contraception, specifically the condom as we know it, may lie just at the tip, with the creation of the Galactic Cap (G Cap).
The innovative two-piece prophylactic device fits only on the very tip of the penis, working in two parts. The first piece is a U-shaped polyurethane adhesive film that can be applied “hours or even days before sex,” allowing for urination and showering. The second piece is a reservoir cap that attaches by adhesive to the base film, leaving the high sensitively coronal ridge and shaft fully exposed. This is applied right before sexual activity.
"It leaves the coronal ridge and shaft exposed for more powerful orgasm," Powell told LA Weekly. However, when it comes to protection against the transmission of STDs or certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV) — transmitted via skin-to-skin contact — the G Cap may not suffice for prevention. Currently, there is no scientific evidence to support that this condom can protect you from the STDs your sex partners may be carrying.
Nice
the video for it kind of looks like a Tim and Eric scetch

Has to be applied hours before?
I can see people not using it then

This is why we need a "bad reading" rating.

**Can be applied
Shit, double ninja'd.
get a cap, dickhead
Sounds scary and painful especially for people who haven't had their dick chopped up.
I dunno, personally I feel like I'd need the "lower sensitivity" from a condom. :tinfoil:
This is great, even thought it doesn't protect against STDs. If you're in a stable relationship, it's pretty much known whether or not either of you in the relationship has one. If you both don't, this'll be a lifesaver.

I don't think you quite get the point of condoms. The goal is to prevent life.

Ha, you know what I meant.
It's great that they're making it have less of an impact on sensitivity, whilst still keeping it good at stopping babies growing.
I don't mean anything against this or condoms in general, but how come when they're talked about, it often gets implied they're the only form of protection?
For example, here you've got:
When it comes to safe sex, there is a much-needed barrier that stands in the way between you and your partner — the condom — also known as the “necessary evil.
Like, what about other forms of birth control such as the pill or depo shot? I wouldn't really consider there to be a barrier when using one of those methods and it's almost certainly just as safe.
Anywhere i can sign up to become a tester for these condoms?

I can get why someone might be against taking the pill or getting IUDs and shit. Messing with your hormones can cause odd side-effects in some people, or they may just be against modifying the body like that in any way.
Condoms are one of the only decent defences against STIs though, so they tend to hog the spotlight when talking about safe sex.

Because the pill and shot don't protect against STI's...come on now.

THEY ARE THE ONLY FORM OF PROTECTION AGAINST STDs
you are the reason every teenager in this country who's really old enough to know better is put through incredibly patronising sexual education classes

They'll probably need sexually active candidates
i love not even having to care about condoms
[sp]and yes i do have a boyfriend in case you wanna be cute[/sp]
Wow.
WHY didn't I think of this.
tbh i dont think condoms are really that bad, the difference isnt that huge between sex with and without them(unless youre using some damn thick rubbers)
the idea of putting a cap on my dick sounds kind of weird, but i suppose so is slipping it into a latex sleeve
I'd rather just have this

Take the banana in the OP, and dip it in a jar of peanut-butter.
That's why you need a condom.

But then you'll get lube in your peanut butter. Then it's ruined.

Yep, it's not like that killed one of the coolest people in history or anything. Yeah both you and your partner can get checked for STIs before doing anything but there's always the possibility one partner will be unfaithful or something.
reminds me of a joke my friend told me
a man suffering from leprosy hires a prostitute, after the sex he pays her and says: keep the tip.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're not in a relationship.

He's talking about protection from pregnancy. No need to react so harshly.
