What's with all these companies doing 4 player co-op now?

And what do they mean by exclusive access to Extraction? Does it mean that they'll get to play it a month before its released, or do they mean only those who preorder will get access to it for a month before they open it up to everyone?
Meh, I was about to say it's a L4D rip off, but that's not really true. It's just common sense. Split-screen has maximum player count of 4 usually, so that's where the number comes from.
Perhaps but does anyone else agree that it's just a little too coincidental that immediately following L4D's release, nearly every major mainstream game title has been announced to have some sort of four/slightly-more-than-four player survival game mode?
I'm just saying is all.
Anyways, as sceptical as I am about this new four-player-survival fad that's going on I fully look forward to playing this with my friends...

Yes, because L4D invented 4-player coop. By that logic Goldeneye must've ripped off L4D too.

I'm guessing it's because consoles usually support 4 controllers max.

I'm talking about the recent 4-player co-op craze, back then it was pretty much only for splitscreen on consoles because internet play sucked back then
