Marine Captain killed midair in helicopter collision - Polidicks

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. -- A local Marine killed in Afghanistan was laid to rest on Friday. Thursday night, friends and family members held a candlelight vigil at Community Field in North Attleborough. A funeral service for helicopter pilot captain Kyle Van De Giesen took place at St. Mary's church in North Attleborough. He will be buried at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Van De Giesen, 29, died Oct. 26 in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan just days before he was scheduled to come home. He leaves behind his pregnant wife and an 18-month-old daughter He was from my town, I never heard of him until a few days ago, people like him make me proud. I can relate, my brother is in the Army. Yea, all of us in our school stood outside and watched the funeral car, it carried his casket, i think its called a hursk drive by, we had flags and yellow ribbons.

I was for the war, but god dammit, too many people on all the sides have died now.
