ABC managing director Mark Scott has fired back at Tony Abbott after the Prime Minister called for "heads to roll" at the ABC by pointing out he runs a "public broadcaster, not a state broadcaster" with a duty to air confronting views.
On Thursday Mr Abbott intensified his criticisms of the ABC for Monday night's controversial episode of Q&A, which featured a former terror suspect, and announced a government inquiry into the program.
"At times, free speech principles mean giving platforms to those with whom we fundamentally disagree," Mr Scott said in a speech in Melbourne on Thursday night.
"Media organisations often give air time to the criminal and corrupt, to those who express views that run contrary to accepted public values.
"You have to set the bar very high before you begin to exclude certain views or perspectives."

By definition, the ABC is a state broadcaster.. other than that, he's pretty on point.
The ABC isn't a mouthpiece of the Federal Government.
If Abbott tries to influence ABC's internal policies, I hope to fucking god they blackout their channels in protest

He'd probably appreciate them doing that.
Oh, what's that? Sorry ABC, we seem to have misplaced half your budget, I'm sure this is just a coincidence. Now I don't mean to imply anything but if you try to say nice things about Tony we might just happen to find your missing budget!
Am I correct in assuming that someone has anally inserted their hand into Mister Abbot and worked his mouth like a puppet?

It was John Howard all along
He wasn't satisfied with 11 years of turning Australia into capitalist hell, now he's back for more
